Today's Human Body Molecule #9: Adenosine
Molecular weight: 267
Formula: C10H13N5O4.
Adenosine is a molecule which as itself is a neuromodulator and is implicated in the tubuloglomerular feedback and the hepatorenal reflex. it is used as a medication to diagnose and treat certain cardiac arrythmias. It is also the precursor of molecules such as ADP and ATP (which have to do with energy transfer) and cyclic AMP, important in signal transduction.
