My first day working as a trainer at a gym
Today is my first day working in the gym as a fitness trainer and educator. Well, I haven’t gotten the job and it's hard to consider it a job considering that I will not be getting paid.
I have been following a self-improvement program that advised that we learn to connect with people and I watched a TikTok video where 50 Cent read out how would not like to do business with people that required his resources. The concept of working for free is such a weird one especially when it is something that you ordinarily would endure while paying money.
I have always been sort of a gym bro at this gym so it's not shocking that I can go 8 hours at the gym without feeling stressed. Mind you I did not sleep properly the night before.
This isn’t really working for free in my opinion. You know that old joke that people say about not having money to pay for food so you wash the plates. It's something similar except I love washing plates. You can bank on the fact that today will not be the last time.
There is also the fact that I am supposed to be educating those who work out there and giving them fitness information. I usually light up when I want to talk about all I know about fitness because I think I’m speaking from an abundance and people seem to listen to the words that come out of my mouth.
When I do 48-hour shifts and I am very tired the only thing that can light me up is for the 24-year-old overweight hypertensive patient to ask me how to go about their weight loss plan. All of a sudden I’m no longer tired and the customer care rep is bugging me about the other patients who are waiting.
Anyway, I hope to keep you informed of my trainer journey wherever it takes me. Assuming it takes me anywhere.
