What should we build next on PeakD?
This is not a release post. No changelog, no long list of tiny fixes, no screenshots of buttons you may or may not care about π
This time I just want to ask:
What would you like to see improved, added, removed, simplified, or experimented with on PeakD?

It can be a big feature idea, but it really does not have to be. Small stuff is welcome too:
- "This takes too many clicks"
- "I wish this worked better on mobile"
- "Why is this button even there?"
- ...
Those little things are often the most useful, because they are exactly the kind of annoyances people hit every day and then forget to report.
A few areas I am especially curious about
To make this a bit more straightforward, here are some parts of PeakD where feedback would be very useful:
- Discovery: what helps you find good posts, authors, communities, and discussions?
- Onboarding: what would make PeakD easier for new Hive users?
- Publishing: what would make writing, editing, formatting, or managing posts easier?
- Analytics: what stats would actually help you understand your account or content better?
- Wallet and governance: what actions are still too unclear, hidden, or scary to use?
But do not feel limited by that list. If something else bothers you, or if you have a completely different idea, post it.
Given the current HIVE token price feel free to drop even crazy ideas if you feel like those can be helpful.
No promises, but I will look into it
Not every request will be implemented. Some ideas may be technically not doable on Hive, too messy, too hard to maintain, or just not a good fit for PeakD right now.
But I will read the suggestions, think about them, engage with you and if something looks useful and technically doable I will give it a try.
Sometimes that means a full feature. Sometimes it means a smaller experiment. Sometimes it means I come back and explain why it is harder than it looks.
All of that is useful feedback anyway.
So...
What should I look at next?
Leave ideas in the comments. Big requests, small annoyances, weird experiments, half-baked thoughts... all welcome.
A single feed with communities, friends, trending and hot mixed in together, maybe throw snaps and waves in the middle and play with an infinite scrolling-like algorithm that adapts to your engagement on posts and comments.
Huge task, revolutionary payoff. The timeline-like feed Hive has is outdated and makes it hard to explore new stuff and it can't recommend what interests us.
I value the timeline-like feed to keep up with friends, but the community, trending and hot are built in the blockchain, they are stuck in time bound to get old, sadly they often have too much irrelevant stuff, so I go back to to reddit, Instagram or anywhere else where each refresh or each scroll give me stuff I may be interested in (along with stuff I may not just for discoverability)
edit: may be the discovery feed? mine is not engaging but may be due to my activity? maybe it improves as I use? anyways it is the same after I refresh, an infinte feed needs fresh stuff per refresh
I like the idea and I will look into it.
I would like to have a better feed but not too opinionated and completely build around what I think is the best approach.
Do you think the inclusion of community post is good or it will add too much noise?
The discovery feed is definitely a step in this direction but I would say it's just a first step.
It does not improve based on your interaction right now.
Yes, I think it is a good idea including it so the algorithm has more posts to classify, if a feed algorithm works well the noise will not even be recommended
I'm working on a draft for the new feed. You can check it out on our beta website:
https://beta.peakd.com/@igormuba/discover?algorithm=mixed
Awesome!
I get that it is a draft and we may have different views, but as an initial impression, I hit refresh and saw a few posts that do not interest me, instinctively I refresh to try to get a new set of posts and got the same posts.
Maybe that is intentional, when I meant an infinite feed I meant like modern social network where refreshes pull fresh posts I may be interested at. Must be challenging though because of how Hive works and the quality and quantity of posts.
Making a recommendation feed that is infinite like modern social media does is an herculean effort, I am glad I am not the one tasked with it LOL
I work at a publicly listed social media company that has an infinite feed so I am afraid I won't be allowed to share more deeper insights and I must keep my feedback lightweighted.
So basically a bit of randomness in the results? Will that do the trick?
Yes
I used Steempeak for a long time, until it shut down. I've also been using Peakd for quite some time. I don't need to leave Peakd to perform many of the functions in Hive.
The only thing I think is missing is Hive-Engine. Here, we need to keep at least two different website addresses open in our browser to perform many tasks. A decentralized Dex integration to https://peakd.com/@accountname/wallet would be great. Similarly, adding a simple marketplace for tokens and a list of liquidity pools to https://peakd.com/@accountname/wallet/hive-engine would also be excellent.
Even without any of these, thank you for everything you've provided so far.
Basically you want the market and swap features available on TribalDex right in your PeakD wallet?
Yes. Even a simple swap interface would suffice. However, I think a DEX interface is necessary for the Peakd Wallet section. An interface like https://hivedex.io/ would be quite nice. But even the interface at https://wallet.hive.blog/market would be sufficient.
We already link https://hivehub.dev/market/basic for the HIVE/HBD internal market.
And a basic swap on Hive Engine can easily be done with the Keychain integrated widget:
In my case, I started on Hive because I enjoy writing and drawing. After I got Peakd, I found it easier to use, and I stayed there. Step by step, I selected the niches I preferred. A friend told me you could make money. I never understood how. I'm still here for the hobby and to learn.
Unfortunately, I don't understand anything about cryptocurrencies. And the wallet system, exchanges, and support on the platform seem complicated to me.
Furthermore, there's no search function with keywords we can use to learn about these topics. The platform is only organized by niche.
I would like to have:
a) a keyword search engine
a) a niche that explains how Peakd works
a) what non-investors can do, and how we can help each other
b) how to exchange HBD for different fiat currencies (not cryptocurrencies)
a) a single explanation of: key usage, wallets, delegations, witness support, and the meaning of Hive Engine
b) what Hive SBI Units are used for
As you can see, I'm ignorant about all of these things.
Perhaps others are more knowledgeable about them...
@asgarth Thank you very much for your post
Basically a better "getting started" system. And eventually expand our FAQ page: https://peakd.com/about/faq
With easy to reach help popups in critical pages like the wallet. Correct?
@asgarth Thank you very much for your attention. Have a great day!
Came across this post right after snapping a suggestion to improve friendlier feed for international users:
https://peakd.com/@fernandosoder/re-peaksnaps-tgboqh
Well, here goes another one I just thought:
I don't know if it's already implemented somewhere, but I would like to see embedded snaps in replies instead of just the links to them
Like, if I comment a line with https://peakd.com/@account/re-peaksnaps-permlink, there could be a javascript to detect the snap and embed it right there like it would do with an image or a re-snap.
This is not easily doable right now because the Hive API does not expose the language of a post as a top level value.
Also not sure we have the required volume of posts/snaps to actually make it doable. I fear too many languages will have just a handful of posts per day.
This is already implemented in snaps. But I can look into extending support to replies as well π
I was thinking about that. It would be a challenge to make another algorithm to sort posts based on metadata if implemented outside Hive API using json_metadata from posts to announce the language.
That's why the whole system would not be meant to restrict but to prioritize posts on user's feeds, where posts in the user's preferred language(s) would appear first.
That is just a suggestion to make the environment friendlier to common people to push into engage more with Hive posts. Most people I know don't understand English and it's being quite challenging to promote Hive to them.
But those are just my opinions and suggestions.
Maybe this can be part of a new custom feed as proposed in another comment of this same post.
And we can use language as one of the criteria to sort posts?
That would be awesome. The protocol could follow ISO639-1 code for language(with optional ISO3166-1 following it for specific geographic context) just like most places define languages.
ISO639-1 = language codes
ISO3166-1 = country codes
Just the ability to set
in the posting profile JSON as well as putting an optional
could allow not only PeakD but other Hive interfaces to make their own more personalized feeds.
I would dearly love an option to keep AI scrapers the hell off of my intellectual property. My Peakd account is currently my sole means of income, but I would pay in HIVE to keep AI off of all my hard work.
I hate the fact that so much work and love has been fed wholesale without payment or permission to the slop machine, and I hate that billionaire techbros are forcing actual creative people to starve whilst "monetising ideas".
You may have guessed that I feel very strongly about this. PLEASE. At least make your new scrape-ability feature opt-in instead of mandatory.
We cannot really stop AI agents from reading the content on Hive.
Even if we try to limit them, they will simply read the content from another frontend or the blockchain (because everything on the blockchain is public).
More and more people are using AI agents to find content, so blocking them will backfire in the long run as PeakD (and Hive) will be left behind in a world of agentic content discovery.
I see your FOMO and raise you "The bubble is about to pop". We can protect user's IP with "Venus Fly Trap" code that sends scrapers into an endless labyrinth of gibberish.
Trust me. Creators will appreciate being able to keep their IP the hell away from scraping machines. As I said, I will pay for that feature.
That will not help at all because AI agents can simply scrape other frontends or eventually just read the raw post content from the blockchain. There is no filter over there.
I don't understand. Are they scraping the blockchain as well?
Why make it easier for them by doing what you're planning?
Your philosophy of "they're going to do it anyway eventually" confuses me. Why should you spend effort in confounding scrapers? Because the content creators who are making the stuff that draws in income will recommend this site to other content creators who will make more stuff etc. etc. The whole idea of "They're doing their best to keep the scrapers away" could be your selling point.
Literally everyone but AI Techbros fucking hate AI and AI scraper bots. Literally everyone except unimaginitive sheeple fucking hate what AI churns out. It's the torment nexus, and we do not have to willingly be part of it.
Don't be defeatist about the "inevitable improvements of AI" - that's what the Techbros want you to think while they're desperately trying to prop up their house of cards behind the curtain. Stand up for what this site is built from - human creativity. Do what you can to protect it.
I believe that it will pay off much better than making it easy for the Techbros.
I'd love to have better support for multi-lingual blogs-in-one-post (which seems currently the preferred solution on hive). For longer blogs more than one language in one post becomes unpractical and confusing for readers.
A solution I could imagine is the use of tabs (like bootstrap uses) within one blog for different languages. This way readers can quickly select their preferred language.
For authors it would be handy if special tags or just div's with specific id's would be available to separate the languages.
Yeah, that would be helpful. I have to figure a technical solution that will work on newer and older post.
You suggested a solution (tabs) that will work for the readers, what about the content creator? Do you expect a different experience when you write a post?
Tabs for the author would be perfect... Language selector in the menu would be great too, I guess.
Personally I wouldn't mind working with html div's or some dedicated language-tags...
Most of the readers of my blog are not Hivians... Would be great if they could leave a reaction as in a guest-role, maybe by using the resource credits of the author.
This is (and always has been) technically challenging. Will think about it but it's not an easy thing to solve
Yeah... that's what I thought
Maybe off-chain reactions could be an alternative
They definitely would require moderation, though...
Feature to embed hive posts on other websites, like embedding X posts
Unfortunately that is something they will have to support on the other side.
To support embedded X posts on PeakD we had to write the embedding code ourselves.
I mean making embedding posts easy by allowing to embed a post with an iframe provided by peakd, like X (twitter) does it. X embedded posts are implemented by X not by every website that embeds the post.
https://help.x.com/en/using-x/how-to-embed-a-post
X embeds are not simple iframes. The actual code is:
They don't use an iframe and also include a script in the code. That is not automatically usable on other platforms. We have ad-hoc code that parse the string and embed the post.
I created a quick "embed post" link that you can use in an iframe, but that will not magically be rendered on other platforms. Give it a try and let me know.
The link is simple, just add
embedin front of the URL: https://embed.peakd.com/hive-163399/@asgarth/what-should-we-build-next-on-peakdYeah something like embed.peakd.com but make the iframe/embed feature more discoverable on the main UI, like adding an embed button or an option under the three dots menu to embed a post on another website with a simple iframe like adding a youtube video on a website.
An option to easily copy the iframe link will be included in the next update.
Meanwhile can you give it a try manually with something like this? I would like to know on how many external websites it actually works.
<iframe src="https://embed.peakd.com/hive-163399/@asgarth/what-should-we-build-next-on-peakd"></iframe>Would be great if our friends from the Fediverse could easily follow our blogs on Peakd. I know about Hiverss.com, but that's a bit far fetched and clunky for most of them.
I've heard about ActivityPub, but I'm not sure if that would be the way to go to implement this...
Will have to look into it because I'm not familiar with Fediverse
The communities search keeps giving error. Can you please check it out? https://peakd.com/c/hive-181335/search

Thanks, will check it out π
Update: this will be fixed in the next update. Thanks for reporting
Great thanks!
Another suggestion is that thumbnails for 3speak videos don't show!

Will look into that as well π
I think I already said but a way to view my favourite tags all at once in a feed. I loved Discovery but half are people I follow already so I'd like to only discover people I don't follow and only English as I don't read other languages nor do I have time to translate.
I'm thinking about how this can be implemented. Can I ask how many favorite tags you have? Just a ballpark number
Oh sorry about ten - fifteen from me to the communities I run.
So many good ideas already posted here !
The one thing I'd love to see is an in-house alternative to Discord, but ideally without it being the confusing mess that Discord has become. My pet hates over there are, in no particular order; it's centralised anti-privacy nature, the endless stream of notifications that look personal but are actually triggered by admins sending to all members, and the profusion of sub-boards without any way to mark them all as read in a single action.
In an ideal world, there would be a prominent & easy access button on every PeakD page (maybe next to Discover - Waves - Deck) for "Hivecord" or whatever we want to call it, and ideally enabled for other front ends to add.
Hive communities' addiction to Discord is a big issue for me, because it takes people off the site, but turned around the other way, having something slightly simpler but with anonymity and no need for KYC could be a big marketing tool for Hive.
Give it a try here (and select the "native peakd user interface" when prompted):
Sends like a good idea.
Analytics: what stats would actually help you understand your account or content better?
I would like some kind of tool that would help me identify which "Type" of posts performed better. Maybe some filter last posts, that I could then place in a sheet to get some insight
Performed better in terms of activity or rewards?
Something similar to this table but with more columns?
Yeah like this one, but with a little more filters that gives more insights. Maybe communities, tags used, themes of the post.
Hi, well, I'd love to see a section for simple games, and it could also be like a news section (entertainment, sports, social) where we could comment on them and maybe even make posts about them on Hive. That would be interesting.
Posted via First Context
Hive based games like the ones we show in the wallet? Or simpler ones?https://peakd.com/wallet/games
This looks like a community or a badge feed? Is this what you are thinking about?
@asgarth It would be great to see simple games and pastimes that can be posted in snaps, and an interactive world news section on Peakd.

I am not sure and deliberate my impotency as a Peakd contributor. However, this platform was my only favourite over "M" or many other publications. I recommend implementing a daily sign-in feature that automatically gains our HP or HBD. Also, if you write more than three articles in a row, you can get more offers or more HP. Oh, I have also only required for this platform, which is about training or onboarding, in which topic might be best to write and what does not deserve to be written. (because of my mood-swinger, and it was caused by my articles sometimes)
I'm really glad to be part of this platform, and I also want to live up to my entire life to pay my monthly and family expenses. So that's all, thank you.
Who is going to provide the HP or HBD received by the users for daily sign-in? Or for completing specific tasks (like 3 articles in a row)?
For Desktop:
Could you add a filter for Snap that allows users to mute a specific tag? Twitter/X has a similar feature.
It would also be useful to add a breadcrumb when navigating through tags (Topics). For example, instead of just showing:
bitcoinit could display something like:
All > Bitcoinor
All > Topics > BitcoinA mockup in a List-style layout:
It would also be great to have a dedicated Topics page with relevant tags grouped by category, for example:
#art
drawing, painting, sketchbook, sketch, digitalart, surrealism...
#finance
market, money, bullrun, income, economy, entrepreneur, business...
#blockchain
bitcoin, ethereum, web3, defi, crypto...
#health
...
#politics
...

Honestly, nobody enjoys searching for tags manually all the time. A well organized list would make discovery much easier, users could simply open the Topics page and click the tags they are interested in.
Lots of interesting ideas. Will think about them.
Some of them should not take too much work to be implemented π
Enable uploading of PDF's; displaying them as symbol, thumbnail, e-book, brochure...
I feel like it would be better and easier to upload those files to external storage providers and share the link.
We don't really want our image storage to be used as a backup service π
Ah, yes, I see what you mean... fair I guess...
I'd like to have multiple related profile pages, a bit like on FB. Me as a blogger, me a traveller, me as a professional, me as a photographer etc.
That way I could organise my content better for my different audiences.
How would you categorize the different posts in your blog? Group of tags?
I could think of several solutions for categorizing posts to different profiles:
1- Like you suggested yourself: a group of tags (but that would make it impossible to use the same tags for different profiles)
2- Use of "hidden tags", like #hidden-personal, #hidden-professional etc. (and make them hidden ofc.
3- Use of "category tags", like #cat-professional, #cat-personal (no need to hide them)
A totally different approach would be the use of separate hive-accounts, but "connect" the accounts on the profile-level. "Connect" would be a list of other profiles/accounts on your profile page, to make them better discoverable.
The main goal is just to give some more room for additional profile data (contact-info, website, bio / intro, maybe some product/service info) making it suitable for professionals / artists and small businesses, like a restaurant
This is a very small thing and likely it's me: since the past few months, I've had to tap the "mark as read" twice to get it to do that. The first time, it goes away, then quickly reappears. The second time it's gone. This occurs on mobile or laptop/desktop and doesn't seem to matter with the browser. The gif shows it (Firefox, laptop), though it's hard to see because it is cycling around as gifs do.
Actually happened to me as well. Will look into it π
In my case, I don't notice it because I almost always clear my Hive account notifications on the #Ecency frontend !INDEED. π€π€―ππ€ !LOLZ
I like ecency too, I'm just not as familiar with where everything is there because I've used PeakD since the fork. Anyway, I just marked notifications as read and it cleared with only one click, as expected.
In my case, I always use #Ecency except when there are major technical problems there, where I then use #PeakD (which happens about one day a month) !INDEED. π€π !LOLZ
I would love to be able to have the option to filter out reblogs. Also a discover section would be cool where you do not see who posts it, just tinder style new post swipe (next + upvote / next no upvote)
This is already possible in your following feed. Do you think it will be useful in other pages as well?
I suggested this on a post by @MenO (edit: it was his Snapie project, not a personal post), but I'll add it here, too. A feed with "most reblogged posts" might be useful, especially if it had an algorithm to skip counting low-reputation accounts and accounts that reblog more than they post. Something adding value to curation would help content discovery overall if it were properly highlighted on frontends, and had some basic abuse-prevention measures.

@jacobtothe The ledger doesn't lie, and neither do we. We've already exposed the interconnected web of your friendsβthe numbered wallets, the synchronized voting, the farming rings disguised as curation. Yet, instead of reflection, you offer only more silence and more downvotes.
Why does a "community" need so many ghost accounts to survive? Why do you refuse to admit that it is your friends and your own abusive behaviorβnot truth-tellingβthat drives people away? You can not hide the pattern, it only highlights the desperation.
We have to ask: Are you okay? Do you need some help with your mental health? Because no one in their right mind would choose to spend their life defending a house of cards built on lies, bullying, and botnets. There is still time to step back from the edge. Choose clarity over compulsion. Choose truth over the tribe.

The Sanctuary of the Builder: A Manifesto for Free Creation
Prologue: The Right to Rise
There is a sacred covenant between the creator and the soil upon which they build. It is the promise that if you plant a seed with honest hands, the earth will not conspire to crush it before it breaks the surface. It is the assurance that the gardener exists to nurture the growth, not to trample the sprout because it does not yet resemble the tree.
On the blockchain, this covenant has been broken.
We have witnessed a tragedy where the very tools meant to protect the integrity of the networkβthe downvote, the curation trailβhave been weaponized by leviathans of power. These "whales," entrusted with the stewardship of the ecosystem, have become its jailers. They do not prune the weeds; they scorch the earth. They do not guide the new voice; they silence it with the crushing weight of their accumulated capital.
It is time to leave the shadow.
It is time to build where you are free.
I. The Betrayal of the Guardian
The downvote was conceived as a shieldβa delicate instrument to deflect spam, to repel malice, to preserve the sanctity of the commons. It was never intended to be a hammer.
Yet, look at what has come to pass. The whales, those who hold the greatest sway, have turned the shield into a weapon of mass suppression. They do not downvote to protect; they downvote to dominate. They do not drive away the bad actors; they drive away the people. They create an atmosphere of fear where the creator hesitates to speak, fearing that a single misstep, a single unpopular truth, will summon the wrath of the oligarchy.
When the guardian becomes the predator, the flock must flee.
To build in such a place is to build on a fault line. It is to invest your soul in a garden where the owner holds the shears not to shape the hedge, but to decapitate the flowers that grow too tall or bloom in the wrong color.
This is not protection. This is tyranny disguised as curation.
II. The Call to New Grounds
Where, then, shall the builder go?
You must seek the lands where the soil is rich with freedom, not poisoned by fear. You must migrate to the platforms where the mechanism of suppression has been removed, where the only metric of success is the genuine appreciation of your peers.
Go to Blurt.
Here, the downvote button does not exist. There is no tool to crush your voice. There is only the upvote, the comment, the share. Here, value is created by addition, not subtraction. The whale cannot sink your ship, for there are no torpedoes in these waters. You are free to build, free to fail, and free to succeed on the merit of your work alone.
Return to Steemit.
In this older ground, the downvote remains, but it has not been twisted into a tool of systematic oppression. The culture there remembers the original intent: correction, not destruction. It is a place where the community self-regulates through dialogue, not through the brute force of coordinated downvoting cascades.
Build where the wind lifts you, not where the gale seeks to tear you down.
III. The Architecture of Freedom
Imagine a platform designed not for the convenience of the powerful, but for the dignity of the creator.
This is not a dream. It is a choice.
Every time you choose to build on a platform that respects your agency, you cast a vote for the future of the internet. Every time you refuse to tolerate the abuse of power, you strengthen the foundation of a free society.
Do not let the whales convince you that their oppression is necessary. Do not let them tell you that their downvotes are for your own good. The gardener who kills the seedling does not love the garden; he loves only his own control over it.
Epilogue: The Unchained Creator
The blockchain was born from a desire for freedom. It was forged in the fire of resistance against centralized control. Let us not forget that origin.
If the current chains of Hive have become heavy with the weight of abusive downvotes, then break them. Forge new links. Build new shores.
Build where you are free.
Build where you will not be downvoted into silence.
Build where the whales are reminded that they are part of the ocean, not the masters of the tide.
The future belongs to those who dare to create without fear. Go forth, and build your cathedral in the sunlight.
β Bilpcoin: We expose the truth, so you can build upon it.

I think it needs an extra filter for removing community post shares, but this looks promising. We also need to encourage people to reblog more if the top listing only has 10. The existence of the lsit option might encourage users to reblog more often.
