Oh gosh, the poor fence! But glad to hear that no fences will be harmed during this process. That being said, I do feel for you. It can be quite the job to level a garden. If you're ever in need of a professional digger ... let me know. Maybe I can send three professional diggers over to the UK for some speed digging.
