With all this focus on tribes, what I really wish is that the tribe page on SteemPeak provided at least a brief and even better relatively extensive description of each tribe right there on the screen so I could see if I wanted to be interested in their content. As is, what we have is a group of undifferentiated icons, a name which may or may not be relatively impenetrable, and a link.
Just the description field of up to 500 characters would go a long way to making them somewhat more useful.

I totally agree and we have already asked to steem-engine to allow the owner of each tribe to set a description field. I will add this to steempeak as soon as I have the information available.

Is the following description field enough for this purpose?
We think our users need specific and concise description of exactly what type of content is expected in a Tribe. These descriptions don't do that job for the most part.
Yeah, maybe there should be two descriptions. One for the token and one for the tribe, for SCOTs.

We are very much agreed. We would love steem-engine to allow token creators to add metadata somewhere to have a very short description field and maybe a a medium length one like you're talking about... that way they can change it when they need to and we don't have to get updates every time one of potentiall hundreds of tribes updates something.
I suppose there is a possibility that if steem-engine doesn't do it soon we could add the metadata field to the account of the account owner? @asgarth is that possible?
