Congrats on getting a new job with much better pay, especially when you have a family to think of. Sometimes doing something different, or even new isn't such a bad thing. You never know until you try it. The best is that you broaden your skillsets which can only but a good thing, and the worst is you've tried it and if it didn't work out, you can always fall back to your original role. All the best!

The challenges around new responsibilities definitely will be tough at some moments, but I will definitely enjoy learning new things and acquiring new skillsets. And as you mentioned it, you never know for sure until you try it yourself. I hope this will bring me mainly good emotions and pleasure of the finished tasks.
