Welcome to all those readers of the community #hive, in this opportunity I want to share through the community @Project.HOPE, an article of descriptive nature where we will show the characteristics that must fulfill the teachers to transmit an education based on the approach science, technology and society.

In this sense, it is relevant to remember that in traditional education, the teacher was considered as a mere transmitter of knowledge and where the process of teaching and learning took place in only one direction (teacher-student). This type of training somehow worked in previous times, however, as a result of the evolutionary changes that society has undergone, this type of teaching must be modified and adapted to the new demands of our environment.

Consequently, we must conceive of an education that promotes aspects of a scientific nature, adapted to the application of such knowledge in technological advances relevant to a humanity eager to improve its quality of life and social well-being.

Based on the above, modeling is essential in the approach to science, technology and society, therefore, it is the responsibility of teachers to communicate to their students the knowledge they wish to impart and work towards its fulfillment.

In Penick's opinion (1993), it should promote critical thinking, decision making, creativity and communication with the different members that participate in the teaching process, so that they reach a knowledge that allows them to last over time.

Therefore, some of the characteristics that a teacher should model according to the STS model or pedagogical approach will be described below:

1. Must spend time in planning teaching and learning, giving the students the freedom to generate their own learning.

2. Showing flexibility with programmatic content and incorporating socially relevant topics into the curriculum, a practical example of which would be to address the issue of block chains, the crypto-currencies that are in the forefront today and which are not addressed in schools.

3. Educate for action so that it guides its students to create content of social relevance that has an impact on their lives and guide them to leave aside that passive being that is only satisfied with the profits of their work and without knowing that there are other alternatives that allow us to improve our quality of life.

4. Promote teamwork, knowing that in today's marketing networks, the creation of communities allows the balanced growth of each of the participants in the team.

5. To stimulate students in the development of new work initiatives that involve the use of technologies in the classroom and that allow to solve problems in our society.

6. Be part of the daily updating process, as this is the way to create a climate of trust and security with the students.

7. Promote constructive criticism, with assertive approaches that allow the growth of the work team.

Friends readers of the community of @Project.HOPE, the idea of publishing this type of content, is because of the need that society has to advance in the educational topics, it is not enough with the transmission of the thematic contents without applicability, the ideal is to offer a formation to the students that allows them to participate individually and collectively in the social and economic welfare that our communities deserve.

We cannot continue to train people who are job-oriented and dependent on others; we need citizens who are willing to develop new knowledge, new technologies that allow them to acquire financial freedom at an early age. I consider the time is right to start with this type of training since we are in the midst of the digital era and where technology is at the forefront of our daily work.

Hello @madridbg
I agree that education has changed, and it must adapt to the demands of the new society, it cannot be that people continue to be educated under the same precepts as 20 or 30 years ago, the changes have been overwhelming for many, but it is necessary that they adapt, otherwise they will quickly be left behind.
