Whenever I think about evolution, snails were never the first creatures that come to my mind but reading about this new scientific discovery shocked me.

We're now seeing a type of snail called Littorina saxatilis morph faster than how we perceived evolution to happen. For a really long time, we’ve all been fed this idea that evolution is some slow and very long process but the Littorina saxatilis snail population has proven otherwise.

Just in case you want to see how the snail actually looks like, you can watch this YouTube video, I'll put the link below

We now know that these shifts can happen right under our noses, in the span of just a few decades.

This change was not just a surface-level adaptation. Although the appearance of the snails changed during the morph but the real thing was happening in their genes.

It looked like the snails were holding onto a hidden set of blueprints we didn't notice until we observed their rapid change. They already knew exactly how to respond to their environment because they'd been through it before. I can just imagine how much information we can learn if we actually start paying attention to these subtle changes that is happening in real time. It's not just these particular snails, but in every corner of our world.

So the question is, how many other species are sitting on genetic potential, waiting for a chance to adapt.and change? We need to protect our environment and all the natural habits because if we don't protect these environments, we may never find out.
