I think life is the rule, not the exception, in the cosmos. I think the real reason aliens haven’t openly contacted us yet is our civilization is just too primitive. We can’t even get along with each other let alone have the capacity to react appropriately to open contact from across the galaxy or a different dimension.

That's assuming other civilizations are even more enlightened than us. They could be out there just growing more slowly. Perhaps we are the advanced civilization, wouldn't that be scary! :)
There are probably civilizations in all stages of development. It’s fun to think about. Inter dimensional travel opens even more possibilities.
Oh yeah, so many more possibilities!
