Best Way to Spend your Glint (Rarity Draws vs. Loot Chests) -- Part 2 (Addendum)
This is primarily a follow-up on my previous post which implied that Major chests give more value when it comes to gaining cards. After posting, I realized early that I missed out on some parameters which greatly affects the outcome and deviates from my initial recommendation. While Major chests are a better choice among all loot chests, it may not be the most practical.
I can tackle the major flaws on the earlier assumptions:
1.) Card Multipliers and its probabilities - to simplify, just used the max for Regular/Gold foil per chest; however, the earlier computation missed out on adding the probability of getting Regular/Gold foil. Without this, it was heavily skewed as if getting gold is easier given the 15x value.
2.) Probability of Getting Cards - Regardless of which chest type, it's always 33%. This greatly reduces the Expected Value of glint assuming non-cards are set to zero.
Here is the correction:
Can be done to all other chests and card rarity.
Don't forget to multiply to 33% (not shown here are the EV computations of the non-commons)
Here is now the updated Value per cost
Conclusion
While it is still consistent with previous result wherein Major chests seem to have better value, we are now at a better scale. Notice that the Value per cost for these options are lower than 1. This is the major blunder I've missed earlier (when the ratios were tenfold).
This ratio is basically a direct comparison of Loot Chests and the Rarity Draws.
While Major chests are almost equal to a rarity draw, Ultimate and Minor chests greatly erodes the value of your glint considering the low chances of getting a card.
What this exercise is for?
This is about leveraging AI in terms of doing some math to help in decision making. What used to be a daunting task in terms of risking miscalculations due to human error or knowledge gap, life is now made easier and math becoming more accessible. Skillset that needs to be developed in this AI world is on improving our prompting and of course, fundamental understanding of concepts is still key. Using AI does not mean you have to be lazy. You still need to be smarter and in control of AI to get things done the right way.
Thanks for checking your work and publishing this addendum! I wish I had seen these computations earlier. I was completely impatient after saving my Glint for two seasons and bought 4 batches of everything except Ultimate Loot and Legendary draws.
I was also a victim to my own work. Immediately bought lots of major chests. LOL. Now I know better. :)
Chests are still fun though, but it's like gambling, hoping one could beat the house by being lucky.
Well the Glint is "free" so I don't feel so bad spending it on big batches.
I presume that there's also inflation in the Glint Shop🤩 !LOLZ

Hi, nice work, exactly what I’ve been looking for. Just wondering if you have included the use of potions in the chests and card draws?
To simplify the computation, I just assigned zero value to potions since personally I have a lot still in store. Same goes with Merits and energy since my premise is that I'm only interested in cards. Hope that clarifies. :)
