RE: Is it worth repairing a USB cable?

I am always happy to see people repairing things.

The challenge when repairing electronic devices is that electronic devices are often designed to tight standards.

A repaired item like a cable must conform to the specifications before using the devices.

Most new items go through a quality control. This is why new items have a premium.

In theory "refurbished" items are tested before being returned to the market.

I would love to see people actually repairing and reusing electronics. One needs to created testing regimes to assure that the repaired equipment meets spefication ... which is usually just too expensive.

I know that in some countries it is easier to buy a new one, in others like mine, we have to repair many things, especially when personal finances are not the best.

I agree that it is necessary to maintain a quality standard even when repairing, I would have loved to weld better, for example, it's a pity I didn't have the tools because I know how to do it, but I managed to get it to work well after several tests.
