RE: Technically Lazy

Tech support is my department too. Something doesn’t work, I have trained them to restart the device and this solves so many issues. After that, it becomes my department.

It is a good thing I have 30 years of building and using and destroying computers, which is inevitable. Also, I have a team of nerds in the headset when I login to discord and a couple technicians I can escalate to at work.

It does sound like a windows problem that eventually gets better (when they patch the patch that caused the problems with the patch, and the rest of the drivers get patched to patch the patch…)or a power thing.

Do you use a good UPS? They are great for the blackouts but also protect the components during brown outs when voltage gets screwy but doesn’t disappear completely. Also, power supplies on prebuilt computers tend to be purposely underpowered so that they fail early and you have to purchase again. I select my own parts, then overprovision the power supply which must be as heavy as a brick. I don’t wanna jinx it but I get way too many years out of a computer and make sure I refresh my ups every couple years.

Power supplies die and motherboards must have solid state capacitors or they will eventually pop and take everything with it. Might be time to buy a new toy! Prices have come down huge on video cards (most expensive component when you are a gamer or designer) to the timing is right.

This is something I don't have at all. The power supply in Finland is so incredibly stable, I suspect only a tiny fraction of people have a UPS.

I built my last one, but this is a kit. The kit with the same specs as I would have built was about 20% cheaper at the time, which I found incredible. How can it be cheaper than an own build??

Might be time to buy a new toy!

This one is less than a year old though! :D

Next bull market though...
