RE: "Learn to Code" Tribe & BYTE Token Will Launch March 31st

Trading BEE for BYTE

Between now and March 31st I'll be selling off some of my @holovision.cash crypto assets

It is possible to mint coins before the tribe goes live. You can raise funds for the tribe by selling some of the BYTE. Just set a prelaunch price. People who support #HIVE-Engine are likely to buy some.

2000 BEE currently costs 766 HIVE. If you had a prelaunch sale of 1000 BYTE at 776, you would raise the funds for the tribe.

On a related topic. Could I trade some BEE for BYTE? I have 360 staked BEE. Unstaking takes place in "4 transactions over 40 days." One unstaking would give me 80 BEE. Two would give me 180 BEE.

I Am Not a Fan of Airdrops

Most projects launch by giving airdrops to HIVE whales with the hope that the whales would support the project.

This creates a huge market value in the months after the launch.

I've noticed that HIVE tribes with big air drops suffer a steep drop in price when the people who received the huge air drops start selling the coin.

The big airdrops seem to hurt the people who are dedicated the the tribe.

Would BYTE Welcome Discussions of Actual Projects?

Will the tribe involve discussions about coding, or do you want to focus primarily on coding as it is taught in school?

Notably, STEM invites discussions of coding as taught in school, but does not seem to want conversations about software development.

I've worked teaching code and software development. Teaching code and developing software are completely different things.

A web site about coding involves discussions of working projects. Learn to code sites are primarily about individual functions and theory.

Yes, you can trade BEE with @learn2code to get some BYTE before the launch. The BEE will go toward BYTE's first diesel pool. Pairing BYTE with STEM probably makesn the most sense and there aren't any other tokens paired with STEM yet. Now that I think of it I should check with themarkymark to see if he has any objections to pairing STEM with BYTE on TribalDEX.

I did some presale of MEME when that started out because I didn't have much back then to put toward a tribe. Now, I am in the position that I can roll the profit I've made from MemeHive and Hive Images into Learn to Code and the other thing I'll post about soon. @learn2code will put some tokens on the exchange for sale on the first day but I don't want too much BYTE in circulation at launch.

Some BYTE will also be minted early for my account to stake as administrator and @learn2code for community account upvotes and downvotes, like I do for @memehive and @hivephoto, so we can consider those BYTE kind of being bought wholesale for my 3000 BEE.😁 The amounts will be disclosed in the whitepaper.

I agree with your reasoning about airdrops. I am not a fan of airdrops either and ethereum has helped to give airdop a bad name. The optics aren't great for anyone outside the Hive ecosystem looking in and seeing Hive airdrops because of that.

Will the tribe involve discussions about coding, or do you want to focus primarily on coding as it is taught in school?

I'll try to make this more clear in the whitepaper. Thanks for that feedback.

For the @learn2code account for the foreseeable future I'll be making posts as I self-teach myself blockchain development and coding so it will be from a beginner's perspective. @learn2code will also post about projects found on https://hiveprojects.io.

When in doubt, use the #learntocode tag. I don't want to be a gatekeeper. There's most likely going to be some posts about the history of computers, like ENIAC or the Babbage Analytical Engine. There will probably be posts about more speculative topics like DNA and holographic memory storage. As long as it's not plagiarized and related to computer hardware and software @learn2code will allow leeway. It's more up to the BYTE token holder consensus what to upvote and downvote.

I am sure most beginners will post primarily about learning code. More experienced users will post about what they're doing with the code. The tribe is open to everyone and everyone is at a different point in their learning. Nobody knows everything so even the users with more experience can learn something new.

there aren't any other tokens paired with STEM yet.

I've wondered if the lack of pairs involving STEM is intentional. It is possible that the forces behind STEM are not fond of diesel pools; So, it would be wize to check.

My hope is that a "Learn to Code" tribe would discuss developing #hive-engine programs. In that case, a BEE:BYTE pair might be in order.

(Edited)

I checked with themarkymark and he has no problem with @learn2code pairing STEM to BYTE on TribalDEX. None of my business why STEM hasn't already been paired with something like SWAP.HIVE so I didn't ask. You can though in his AMA post if you want I guess.😁

That is a good point about BEE:BYTE, That might eventually be the second pool for BYTE. Maybe someone can make hive-engine development posts. In the beginning I will make some posts on @learn2code going over the hive.io first layer tutorials for development. So those will be posts going through each section with a beginner's perspective, screen caps and commentary about learning that section. Hopefully a few users will follow along with me as I learn and post.

There is documentation for hive-engine layer 2 but I won't look much at that until I am familiar with the first layer. I am hoping that doesn't take more than a year. So sooner or later there will be some hive-engine development posts. It just depends on who can get to doing it first.
