Ditching technological devices for obsolete tools 

One of the common acts in most public schools here in my country is the act of the students being the ones who indulge in cutting the grasses and overgrown weed that plight the school premises. I personally find this kind of activity annoying and tiring, especially given the fact that I also did this during my secondary school days. It's even more saddening given the fact that technological innovation has given us tools that would make such activities seamless, yet most people still resort to using obsolete tools, and this week, as we're preparing to have another interhouse sports competition, the school decided to tidy up the school field, so it'll be used for the event.

I remember I started my secondary school education in Lagos State, and the place where I schooled has loads of beach sand, so there's no likely way grasses will grow there, but along the line, I went to Ogun State to do my secondary school leaving certificate examination, and since I had to register as student there before I'd be accepted to do my exam there, I was also introduced to the farm alongside other students to clear grasses.

Though I don't buy the idea of students being used for such activities at all, I'm still pleased that it's drying down by the day because back then, in my secondary school days, we're not just used to clearing the grasses but also used to plant crops and vegetables like maize, cassava, and different varieties of vegetables. This is annoying because the school staff are the ones who benefit from the harvest of such plantations without giving the students who worked on the farm anything.

This isn't the case any longer, or at least not in Lagos State like it was in Ogun State, because here in Lagos, students won't be used to plant crops that teachers are the ones who benefit from, but the act of still using students to clear grasses on the school premises isn't what I buy the idea of, and I personally think there are other ways to go about it without using students to do such dangerous activities with cutlass under the scorching hot sun.

If I were to have a say, the school could have easily brought or rented a portable bush cutter, which will do a more decent and cleaner job without consuming much stress and energy like cutlass will on the students and the teachers who had to stay under the sun to monitor them so they'll do the job deligently.

Well, my opinion isn't taken, and so we have to continue in this act continuously when we could have easily made use of the technology devices that have made such activities seamless.
