Breaking the Chains of Misconceptions

The world is filled with several popular ideas and conceptions that ain't true, yet many run with them because that's what they're made to believe from a tender age or what they hear or see others say/do, and I for one have heard loads of them through the years, I've even taken several steps to change some which proves difficult and today I'll love to share some of those common misconceptions and a path forward in addressing them.

Some of these misconceptions can be dangerous and go on to affect a lot of things that can jeopardize many things, and yet no matter how much I personally tried to make people understand, most still tend to work with the concept, making me wonder how we'll sail through from the dangers this poses to us.

One of those common misconceptions is in the area of health. One of it is that most people down here believe that most health issues are either prompted by their village people or that only herbs or prayers can heal them. This is a misconception, in my opinion. In truth, I know there is dark magic, and faith works, but some health issues are just natural or due to our way of life, such as eating habits, carelessness, and the like.

And for someone who believes illness was plagued on them by their village people, they tend to also want to wage war against these illnesses spiritually rather than see a doctor, get themselves checked, and be treated accordingly. This is quite disgusting; most times it doesn't end well, and most of such people's illnesses tend to grow worse, and by the time they realize their mistakes, it's too late and that could even claim their lives.

It's disheartening when I see someone mentally unstable being taken to a religious facility like a church or mosque for treatment, and I've been in one of those facilities where they ought to be treated, but instead they're being beaten and made to stay in uncomfortable places all in the name of treatment and prayers. When a family friend of mine took his relative to this place, I tried to talk them out of it, but he and his family kept insisting that it's a spiritual attack and the place he's in is the best place he can be properly treated and healed.

Unfortunately for the family, the young boy died while in that facility, and it was obvious there were bruises all over his body showing how he's been maltreated, but the facilities just said the evils used to bewitched him were too power, and that was exactly the same thing the family believes.

It was disgusting, and I wished I could change this misconception that every challenge and illness is a spiritual attack from village people. Some who don't even go to spiritual men would just keep drinking different herbs that have no dosage or limit and that tend to worsen the situation, but as you might have noticed, they don't want to hear anything about getting treated at the hospital; in fact, they believe tablets are just chalk painted or molded in different shapes.

Now the danger this poses is just like the case of that boy I talked about earlier, meaning it could lead to death or further harm the individual, making the illness grow worse and develop to a stage that might require surgery or be far worse, irreversible, and the like, so it's ideal that we stop having this narrative that some people are charming us, instead we should face reality and follow the right channel in dealing with these illnesses and challenges for our own wellbeing.

Village people have seen shege 🤣🤣. Even when they are living their life, farming, hunting and carrying out other activities to survive, someone somewhere will be pointing fingers at them whenever negative events befall them.

Most people prefer to spend money in the wrong places. Rather than going to the hospital where they would be administered drugs, they prefer to meet so-called prayer warriors who will in turn flog supposed- evil spirits out of their body 😂😂😂.

It's such a disheartening yet funny thing to do, I mean how can we just keep thinking like that, instead of facing reality.

In truth there are dark magic, but not everything is.
I hope people learn.

I can feel this very close to heart as I was once subjected to such treatment when I was small and I had high fever and my grandparents took me to a shaman for treatment. Back then I didn’t know anything better but now I feel like it was such a gamble with my life on the line.
