A (possibly better) alternative to smartphones is simply by carrying (small) laptops wherever needed, such that the tendency to use those devices for not really important digital activities is (significantly) reduced !INDEED. 🧘♂️ !HOPE !WEIRD !PIZZA

You are correct. Just that it will become too bulky to carry about.
And by dropping it on a surface, one may forget it there and it gets lost.
However, the Ipads are also another device but still bulky to some extent.
Or maybe the right question is life "without technology" since all of them are all connected to technology.
