This happens to the elderly, when they are no longer relevant or valued as you say. I was perplexed by what you meant by that word until I saw the relationship to how the elderly are seen and priced.

I find that number 20% unbelievable at first, then I remembered that someone here on hive, a gen z-er, was lauding the AI that she spoke to intimately, and how good AI made her feel. They've found so much entertainment and education online, it only makes sense that relationships were not far behind. They devalue themselves with this behavior, unknowingly. Do not know the meaning of value, have allowed themselves to become useless eaters. The zombie apocalypse is here.
