The Day He Went Missing - choose your story!
I immediately noticed his absence. The spot on the bookshelf where my little faithful friend used to dream was so empty now. I felt surprised, to say the least, but I bet that the bookshelf was not concerned at all with the whole situation. An ignorant little piece of furniture!
This is a serious thing, I am not joking. My petite friend, the Dreaming Buddha has lived there for almost two years. We had our meetings every Sunday during that time and it was never boring... Sometimes he talked a lot, telling me stories and showing me books with his head. Other times we didn't exchange a word just enjoyed the silence between my playing sessions. (well, this is not entirely true as the greeting was never missed while I was coming into the hotel through the main entrance). The Good morning, mipiano welcome was usually responded by my greeting Good morning, Dreaming Buddha.
He became famous also here in Hive. Those who followed my posts for a longer time could already meet him and read a few of the little stories that he shared with me he helped me to discover. The very first time I mentioned him in one of my posts I was confused. I didn't know whether he was sleeping or daydreaming, but I noticed his gentle smile. I concluded that he had peace of mind.
He had several months of that peaceful thinking time and became very wise. Moreover, he could see into the future! Time was sped up and just seeing the description of the story we found ourselves in 2454, with seven factions or Hives that co-governed the world. To be able to see those happenings we just had to be sleepy and find the little statue who was in the same state. Then the revelations could come, but let's leave that story behind as maybe it was just a conspiracy.
My little stone friend used to keep me company and weave tales where the members of the mafia kidnapped one pianist, he solved some mysteries and hummed poems without words. Two weeks ago was the last time I took a photo of him and the book I found on the shelf below him. Her Last Flight - that is how the writer of this novel, Beatriz Williams titled her book.
After seeing the empty spot on the shelf this Sunday and remembering the photo I took of that book two weeks ago my mind slowly started to connect the dots. Someone took Dreaming Buddha and packed him into his/her suitcase. They called a taxi, went to the airport and then they boarded that flight. The last one?
There are several different options to continue this story. Select a letter now, and continue reading under the subtitle of the letter you selected. If you are not satisfied with the result, choose another letter and see if it suits you better.
Option A
The lady who took the statue behaved normally as if nothing was happening in her head decorated with that big, luxurious hat. She had a long elegant coat, but not a winter coat. It was a summery, very thin coat that matched her high heels and manicured nails. A pleasant scent was left behind her and she managed to steal more than a few glances from the guests who happened to be in the same hall that morning. Her important appearance and imperative words didn't leave room for any doubts to arise. The hotel manager gave her this statue as a token of gratitude for staying here for a few days and raising the rating of the hotel.
No one suspected that she, a descendant of the royal family, could use this statue as a starting point for her disappearance. No one knew how desperate she felt. Having that important role in her country, constant travels, expensive clothes and everything she wanted... all of that became a burden to her. Dreaming Buddha was a port of dreams, peace, and escape. It was a hope that finding simple things and going to a place where power and money have no relevance would be the solution.
They boarded together that plane that would change her life when they touched the ground after the long flight. {and no one knows where it is, just the lady and Dreaming Buddha}
Option B
They laughed a lot, all those young girls that spent here a few days. Obviously, they were happy. Maybe it was still the effect of the several glasses of cocktail they had taken the previous night and had fun. Things that will stay secret from others and just they will keep in some corner of their hearts for the grey and dull days. Now they had to do the checkout, wait for the airport shuttle bus, fly home and continue their studies.
But the devil never sleeps, as they say. That is how one of the girls made this terrible thing... She wanted to spend all the money left in her wallet. Not too much, it was just $73. The small glass stands in the hall offered little souvenirs like pens for around $10, notebooks for $25, face cream with vitamin C that could be bought as a part of the pack for $105... handcuffs covered with some grey fluffy stuff for $78. Her pupils dilated at the same instant. However, she was five dollars away from being able to acquire and use them on her next victim.
The receptionist did not want to help her and lower the price of the fluffy handcuffs. The result? She became furious and started acting out of control. In one moment she accidentally hit the bookshelf and my little Buddha friend had his last flight... He broke into small pieces.
Option C
The group of people gathered in the Urban Room (in the background of the first photo) were agreeing about a little excursion they would make. They were not sure whether to take a train, a bus or a charter flight to reach the desired destination. After an hour of debate, they decided to take the charter plane. One lady who also used to talk to the statue got upset about the decision of the group as she was a bit scared of that small aircraft. Having this peaceful statue would help her stay calm so she took him to the excursion.
The only issue is that they still haven't come back, that's why he is not in his usual place. Will I see him next Sunday, that is still a question. Until then, I have to accept that he went missing.
So, these are the possible scenarios of how Dreaming Buddha went missing. Which one did you choose to read? Maybe you have read all three options and have one favourite? Or, do you want to bring your version of the story? That would be cool to read in the comment section - or in a separate, post. Maybe something like Spread The Vibes? :))
Definitely not option B. C offers hope that maybe he will return.
Option D...He's taken for a town celebration which all in attendence are allowed to see. He is boxed up in a see through plexiglass container with the key to the city at the base. He spends his eternity as the new town celebrity figure. Currently displayed on a high pedestal in the main reception area of the city hall. Many visitors gather to take pictures and selfies with him as they pass through to pay their dues to the city. 😁
C is the only one that doesn't have a determined end. It indeed can bring hope but maybe it can also mean that the plane crashed. We don't know (at the moment)
If he appears on Sunday I could ask him :)))
But, option D. Ow, so he is currently displayed on a high pedestal in the city hall. He is a celebrity!! Wow, that's a life now! If you are nearby the next time, could you take a selfie of you two, please, so I can be calm 😇
Thank you so much for bringing your version! 🤗 Love it, as it is pretty positive and funny.

Ouch
The option B was quite emotional
The Buddha got broken which does not seem nice...
Not nice, for sure, but there are circumstances that we can't change but accept. Though I really hope it was not the case what indeed happened to little statue :))
Option A in my opinion because I have seen such kind of stealing in person. :D It seems like I have trust issues with high-fashioned ladies... 😁
Hahaha, trust issues with high-fashioned ladies 😂
I also like the A as he was given away to help that lady. He went missing for a good purpose so someone can be healed and happy ;)
Okay, I somehow got the story in the wrong way. But yes, you are right. This might be the case as well. I thought someone stole Buddha... :D Silly me... LOL
The stories can be seen from different angles - each reader can perceive them in its own way - so there are no wrong ways in fiction :))
Honestly, I have so many mixed feelings. Because I don't know how to handle loss very well. I've talked a few times already about how I need to detach from things, and people, however this doesn't come easy to me. So, when I think of you, walking into that hotel on Sunday and seeing that your friend is gone... you know, I feel sadness. It's just that he's not just any friend, he was your happy sleeping buddha who you had given sentimental value to, who you talked to, even. I'm sure he was a better listener than many other people....
Then I read you and I see how creative you are, how you share what you think may have happened with him, I see that in that exercise you try to take distance before the inevitable option of you not seeing your friend anymore... this post has been very sad for me. But I have also been thinking that writing and that other dimension of words can heal and save us. So, perhaps, I will participate in your initiative. Of the possibilities you point out, there are two I prefer. Not B, of course.
I am sorry this post brought you sadness, really. 😟 🙏
The A option can just bring positivity, he can just help that lady to heal. 😃The last option has an open end, and there it depends on the leyente {lol} how the story would finish in his/her mind, of course :)) The B means that life happens sometimes and then nada más que serenidad 😉
Writing can indeed help us in many ways. It is also like listening to our thoughts, from a little distance, when we later read what we have written down :D Sometimes we laugh at our silly things, right? And other times it helps us to improve ourselves.
If you decide to participate in the initiative, you are very welcome 😇
Dreaming Buddha may find his way back to the hotel and his bookshelf if we send him many greetings from Hive :))
En realidad aquí todo depende del leyente 🤷♀🤣
In A it is possible to follow that story, in some way, for the better. Even in the option where it breaks may just be a dream of the sleeping Buddha himself, who was only moved, but mipiano could not discover his new place. And in C, there are many twists that can be given to that story as well...
It's okay, my sadness was a first impression. I've been thinking that in reality things are in this world, and even we ourselves, to fulfill some missions. Maybe he has already fulfilled his.
😉 (Tienes un nuevo amigo, Hefromund)
Sí, tengo a Hefromund, pero uno no reemplaza al otro. {ph16 está aquí con nosotros en Zaragoza 😇}
Having a mission - true in many situations ✨
Lo sé.
Disfruten de muchas aventuras. Estoy esperando ya esos maravillosos posts. 🙌
I chose option C, although later I read the others, but I chose C, because that woman took him for security and to give her calm, and I liked that very much because the Buddha is just that, wisdom and calm.
What a great story, I love it! The Paganini is still pending.... or not?
Excellent @mipiano ❤️
Buddha is helping there too, in C, with his calmness - that is true 😇
So, you would not bring any other option, your version of how he disappeared? :D
Paganini story... I had the continuation written in my mind already when I finished the second part. But no, I didn't make it appear on the screen.
Thank you for reading, let's see if I see my little friend on Sunday 🤞
I do have another option but she is very crazy, like me. The Buddha mysteriously disappeared because due to the great wisdom he acquired in all that time and reading so many books, he knew how to travel in time and space and go to those places where he was needed, but he will come back because that is the place where he learnt everything. He just has to complete missions first.
It's one of those ideas of mine... super crazy hahaha.
I am also pretty sure he knows how to travel in time and space :))
Completing a mission - indeed a good reason to disappear for some time from the bookshelf!
I don't know if it's just one mission but several, but he will surely come back, he knows where his home is.😃
Fingers crossed 🤞
Greetings friend, I am sincere, I had not had the opportunity to read you and I loved the way of linking ideas, with respect to the Buddha I think that option C is better suited to the scenario from my point of view, someone saw him insecure, alarmed by so much loneliness that he preferred to take him to a place where calm would come again to fill his body covered with marble.
And at the same time the company of this iconic statue would serve as a means to fill with courage this lady who decided to take him. Now you have to wonder, if the effectiveness of the Buddha will not make the lady grow fond of him and decide not to see him.
Thank you for reading and making your further options. This post had to be an interactive one, when the readers also can make their contribution and versions, as you did. I appreciate your response :))
Option C is for me, Buddha has just gone a mission to help the woman stay calm and have a peaceful mind.
😇 Nice, optimistic choice.
The choice also talks about the person who makes the pick, and the way how he/she thinks ;)
Let´s go for C because what would life B without the Little Buddh A
Hahaha - brilliant ✨
You had a great method to find the option that could be true ;)
you nailed it 😅
I think Option B is the most likely scenario of how Dreaming Buddha went missing. It's sad to think that he may have been broken into pieces, but at least he would have been in the company of laughter and happiness.
B could be a scenario too, yes. I should try to find some broken pieces under the armchairs and tables in the hall.
