MIGRATED TO FIBER OPTICS AS A TECHNOLOGICAL CONNECTION

Greetings dear Hivers, it is a pleasure to be back with you after a week where the disconnection to the world, had me a little frustrated and without a doubt, getting away from my daily routine, not being able to write in Hive, took me out of context and made me enter into a depressive world that ended up affecting my emotional balance by not being able to control the scenarios around me.

I will tell you a little about the chaotic week I have been living, as you know thanks to various publications I have made about my personal life, I come from a small town (Encontrados) located in the southern axis of Lake Maracaibo, speaking specifically of Venezuela, In this area unfortunately and beyond the crisis that we as a country are living, we have been affected by rationing and repeated power outages that certainly slows the development of any society, however, is not the subject and I would not want to end up attacking a government that seems unwilling to open their eyes to the impending crisis that affects us.

Let's talk about my disconnection from the world.

In terms of connection and networks, we must make miracles to keep in touch at least via the Internet, since the telephone operators that work in the town, offer a lousy service, hence, many companies have seen an opportunity and have been working through wireless connections via point to point using ubiquiti and tplink equipment, (eye is not advertising), which has allowed to import if you want, the signal from our neighboring country (Colombia).

Undoubtedly, at first this was a marvel for our people, but as the service became saturated thanks to the number of people connected, the speed of navigation became disgusting and literally post a publication for Hive involved many hours of waiting to do so.

In this sense, it was depressing the situation, but as the saying goes it is better to have something than not to have it, how is that, during the weekend before last, there was a confrontation in the border area and one of the connection points was knocked down, so goodbye internet and goodbye to the outside world event, at that moment I lived a greater confinement than the pandemic, I think I was lacking oxygen, I am already exaggerating.

But without fear of saying it, that was frustrating, to my surprise a Venezuelan company was offering its services via fiber optics, obviously at a much higher price (100 dollars) per connection and one month for free according to them, so we had to break the piggy bank to get that budget.

It literally took a week from the cancellation of the service to the installation, however, for now I think it was worth the wait because it is giving me speeds never seen before for this area. However, I still had a problem, how to do with the power backup, so today I plunged into the odyssey of finding a way with materials that I already had, to back up the internet service for a period of 5 hours which is the duration of power rationing in the area.

So a deficient car battery that was donated to me, a UPS that I already had, a motorcycle battery, and a smart charger that I also had available, are the sources of energy that I will use when the power grid fails, although everything is messy, the joy of using the service allowed me to write this publication and show you a little about the strong odyssey that has led to migrate to fiber optics and opt for a better internet service, regarding how the alternative network that I have developed will work, will be a process that I will share in future publications.
