The lie about double-mouthed phone charger

We keep learning every day. The world is advancing on a daily basis with many new features, and if we fail to tag along with these recent ideas and knowledge, we'll remain stagnant and eventually be as good as dead, even when one is still physically alive.

I have a neighbor who, according to him, stopped using a smartphone as far back as 2009 when his first Android phone was stolen. In 2023, he decided to switch back to a smartphone, and you need to see how dull he appears on every single feature of the latest smartphone. He disturbs my life at any single step he wants to make on the phone for me to teach him... even as simple as changing a WhatsApp display photo. Oh God! That's to tell you how 'dead' he has been when he decided not to learn or get along with current happenings in the phone tech world.

Take a look at this photo above; you must have seen phone chargers like this, I mean a phone charger that has more than one charging spot.

Without much interpretation, the function of the charger is purely to charge two gadgets (phones) at the same time, and it's expected to operate at the same speed. In fact, till today, a lot of people, up to 80% of individuals on the African continent, still believe this kind of charger is meant to charge two gadgets, but it's all a lie.

What do I mean?

No doubt, when you plug two gadgets into it, both of them will show the notification of 'charging,' but if you observe well, you'll find out that the charging won't be at the same speed as when it's charging one gadget. This gives the impression that the POWER being produced by the charger is meant for only one gadget, and when you happen to plug in another gadget, the POWER is being shared, hence reducing the rate of charging.

How did I come about this?

Earlier, I was among those who believed in the effective capacity of this double-mouthed charger, and I didn't notice the slow rate until I took my time to observe thoroughly. Ever since then, I don't go with it anymore.

There was a day that I and a friend went out to charge our phones at a lounge close to our house because we didn't have light. I was with my double-mouthed charger, and as we sat down to charge, someone came and inserted his cord into the unused space on my double-mouthed charger head.

"Guy, please remove it. I don't allow it because it's not actually meant for two-gadget charging," I said to the guy politely.

He gave me an awkward look and blasted me for being stingy with my charger, which I called him back and begged for an experiment.

Under normal circumstances, my charger charges my phone at least 15% within 30 minutes and at least 30% within an hour. Luckily for me, the guy agreed too that that's how his phone/charger works too. So we plugged the phones, waited for 15 minutes, and guess what? We only had 4% each.

With that, he got it really clear that that type of charger is not meant to charge two gadgets at once.
