I see how people like to share the term "longevity secrets" as if they're old enough to know how to live that old but a man called William, at 101 years old really knows what he's talking about when he shares the true secret to longevity.

This man worked until he was 85 years old. Just ket that statement sink in for a bit. Usually when people reach the age of 65 they retire and stop working but William went 20 years extra and he did it effectively.

Just imagine you showing up to work at the age where most people at that level are just trying to remember where they left their glasses. This is unique. When I first heard the story, the first thought that came to my mimd was that it was probably a genetics advantage but he had actual secrets to living this long and healthy throughout.

Williams says a few habits like staying active daily, eating sardines and also keeping his mind engaged helped him stay effective even at that age. Do you think that's true though?

I'm not really a fan of sardine I'll admit. They smell weird to me and the texture’s all wrong, and also there's too much oil in the sardine cans. But William’s been eating them since he was 6 years and he's still moving strong so maybe I’m the one missing out here.

So sardine was a factor to his longevity but how many of us even think about food in terms of longevity? Yes, we all know processed foods are bad I get it already. By trying to avoid it but it ain't easy because I don't know how to cook, can't afford a cook, I'm single so no spouse to cook and way too busy to learn how to cook.

Sticking to a home-cooked routine, like William would certainly require some real discipline and maybe the discipline in eating right is the main key. You can decide to eat good for one week and change it and it won't make much difference in your life but if you stay consistent, that's when you'll see the results.

His daily activity is another thing I admire. He says he used to swim four or five times a week when he was younger and now lifting weights at 101. Of course not the Arnold Schwarzenegger type of weights but for such an old man to light regular weights is very special and it shows that he's not lying about his health status.

I'm actually feeling guilty for skipping the gym last week after reading this. His mindset I believe plays a major role in this. William has this drive to stay curious and to keep learning.

He decided not to let age retire him, he switched careers, stayed engaged and that kept his brain active. Maybe exercise and keeping your mind active is the secret or maybe it's just sardines.
