Repairing The Damage Extension Box

I woke up this morning and notice all of my gadget which I plugged in the extension box did not charge over the night. At first, I thought it was failure from the electrical company but it wasn’t, because my fan was still working. I went back to the extension circuit box to plug my phone and it was then I noticed it wasn’t working.

I grew up in a home that has a father who major in electrical engineering. Most time, he brings home some of his work and I have to stay with him while he works. Although I had no interest in studying electrical engineering but the lessons he gave to me, I was able to learn and use the knowledge to do some electrical work at home so fixing an extension circuit box is a little thing for me. I went to the store to get my working tools

After getting the tools, I placed it on my table next to the circuit box. I connected the circuit box to a socket but there was no current flowing through the circuit box. I took out the star screw driver then take out the screws used to lock the box.

I loose the screws and I noticed the life and neutral cable had overheated and melted together. It’s must have happened due to low electrical current. I cut out the overheated cable that had melted together then use a tools called long nose to take out the affected part then connected them with a new cable from the previous cable that came with the circuit box.

After connecting the new cable together, I used insulation tape also called the black tape to cover the exposed cable to they don’t connect with each other again. If they actually do, it will cause overheating or cause a little explosion which will finally damage the circuit box. The taping was done correctly so I had to test it to see if it would work. I connected it to a socket and the bright red light came on

After confirming that all the socket were working. I closed up the box and screwed it back together. Currently I can use my extension circuit box again.
