It's just recently become this good. It's been an option on the cars for quite a few years but started becoming competent after Tesla's FSD team switched from using lines of code and sensors to cameras and an AI neural net.

Oh okay, I am not following it that closely to be honest but I am sure it's a good thing fsd is getting better and better. Like you say, it's more safe than humans!
