Fossils and Rocks
Summer marks another year of visiting museums and other places of interest around the state. Similar to previous years, I visited the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. The nice thing about the places at Thanksgiving Point is that they add new exhibits and activities for visitors each year.
My kid is at the age where curiosity and inquisitiveness are features. The photo above is the rack of replicas in the workshop for kids at the museum. The presenters taught short lessons about fossils and explained some of the specimens visitors could touch. I was surprised that he enjoyed the presentations.
Touch was the theme I noticed during my most recent visit. At the displays, there were mini models that visitors could touch to get a feel of the display they were looking at. I figured it was probably a way to mitigate people who get too handsy with everything.
We spent a little over two hours at the place. It was much more than the previous years. It was because we spent more time reading the descriptions of each exhibit.
Keeping up with the family tradition, we picked up a few more minerals for our collection. We picked up a selenite crystal, lapis lazuli, and amethyst. I'm starting to think my kid may be interested in geology (there will be further evidence about this in a future post about another museum we visited).
It was time well spent with the family.

My boys, when they were little, loved going to museums. They especially liked it when there was little workshops and interactive stations. It is so cool your kid is into STEM. Look forward to the post you talked about.
It probably helps that the mom and I both work in the STEM field.
Awesome examples for the kids.
Good on you for taking your child to experience this. Now, to get you guys out to Topaz Mountain to collect some sparkling topaz, amethyst, opal, apache tears(obsidian) and the king, red beryl!
Fossils are a whole different game, but you guys are in a great area for hunting for those too. Parowan Gap has some awesome dino footprints you can walk up to. Utah is an amazing place.
Good suggestions!
I’m sure the kids were able to learn so many things from those presenters
Those stones must be really precious
It's better than letting the kid sit around the house on some electronic device.
Usually, such visit also means some educational videos and whatnot at home later.
The kids really needs these types of exposure and this is actually great to see. I so much see it
Indeed.
I think the fact that your kid is always curious about so many things is because she has had so many experiences and it’s makes her want to know more
Those stones are cool…
Probably. I thought most kids are like that at a young age.
I want those. No exhibits like that here. I wanted to start a collection of these in the past but there's too many knock offs, limited sources and logistics problem.
Haha, the gift shop did have many knock offs, but I tried to be picky and pick out the good stuff.
These types of rocks are really precious and will definitely cost so much I believe
Nah.
Those are pretty cool looking. I especially like the crystal!
The selenite or the amethyst?

Very cool experience. When my son was younger I took him there, he love the dinosaur exhibit. Thanksgiving Point has really become a nice place over the years!
Yeah! It’s a bit different each year.
I haven't been there in years now. Next time I visit I'll have see what it's like today
Keep up the good work. 👏🎵
Dear beloved Hive creator,
Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.
As a fellow creator, I know how hard it is to get the word out there.
I built cXc.world to help creators like us get more support from the blockchain community + beyond.
Share your music on cXc.world, and copy the Markdown for a easy post includes embedded players for Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud.
That way, you can earn HIVE + stack streams on centralized platforms, as they do still matter.
Not a music creator? No problem. You can still use cXc.world to find + share music you love.
What's next?
Preview the next evolution of cXc, Tetra.earth.
Expose local music from your area!
We're helping grassroots musicians, and you can too by adding their music (no sign up or WAX account required).

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋
We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.
For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
