I think that in your plan, there would be a lot of shit everywhere.
And certainly, like you and your friend from pub, I think that the planet would like a reset, either to thin us out or to completely replace us with other forms of life, because we, the way we are, have brought a lot of damage to the same.
We are not good enough, as humans. Wr have no empathy, we chase after power and money, we threaten the weaker and poorer...

Yeah, there might be some risk, but a lot of reward by way of a reset; as you say, humanity seems to have taken a wrong turn.
