RE: The best so far.... Same here, it must have been a similar time frame and in my case was the Commodore 64. Our college, a few years later (I think) made use of the ZX Spectrum for programming robots.

RE: The best so far.... I also got my first computer approximately 40 years ago (I think it was 39). It was a Commodore 64 though. Spectrum really didn't have much of a presence in the U.S.
