Towards the 18th century, an architect named Carlos Mardel designed this beautiful mansion that bears the name "palace of the Marques do Pombal", Count "Sebastião José de Carvalho" is recognized for being the one who rebuilt Lisbon after the earthquake of 1755 and we highlight our tourist spot because it was here where the famous Count lived, today I bring you a post to learn a little more about the history of the palace and why you should visit it if you come to Portugal for a visit.🧭🌎
Hacia el siglo XVIII un arquitecto llamado Carlos Mardel diseno esta hermosa mansion que lleva como nombre palacio "do marques do pombal", el Conde "Sebastião José de Carvalho" es reconocido por ser quien reconstruyo Lisboa luego del terremoto de 1755 y destacamos nuestro paraje turistico porque fue aqui donde vivio el famoso Conde, hoy te traigo un post para conocer un poco mas sobre la historia del palacio y porque deberias visitarlo si vienes a Portugal de visita.📸🏛️🏰🏯
Old Oeiras📸🏰 /La vieja Oerias🌎🚩
To visit the palace (38°41′32″N 9°18′52″W) we must first visit the town of Oeiras, which today is a very busy tourist area. Its streets with stone pavements reflect its great history and we can find stories based on texts from 1760. At night, its narrow alleys come to life and the restoration invites us to delight in a great and diverse local cuisine. During the day you can also tour the town and visit some interesting places such as the Pombal Palace, the Poets' Park or the seafront promenade!📸🌎
Para visitar el palacio (38°41′32″N 9°18′52″O) debemos primero recorrer la villa de Oeiras que hoy en dia es una zona con mucho movimiento turistico, sus calles con una calzada de piedra refleja su gran historia y como podemos conseguir relatos basados en textos de 1760, en las noches sus angostos callejones cobran vida y la restauracion nos invita a deleitarnos de una gran y diversa gastronomia local. En el dia tambien puedes recorrerla y visitar algunos lugares interesantes tal es el palacio de Pombal, el parque de los poetas o el paseo maritimo!😍🚩
Portugal is full of magical places with very original architecture, and such is the case of Oeiras. In many places we see Gothic-style decorations, some inscriptions on the wall that are more than 400 years old, and I even had the opportunity to photograph the aqueduct that brought water from the river to the historic center of the primitive city.🧭👨🏻🏫🏰
Portugal esta lleno de lugares magicos y con una arquitectura bastante original y tal es el caso de Oeiras vemos en muchos lugares decoraciones con estilo gotica, algunas inscripciones en la pared con mas de 400 anos e inclusive tuve la oportunidad de fotografiar el acueducto que permitia traer agua desde el rio hacia el casco historico de la ciudad primitiva.🌎⛲
The abundance of resources, together with the fact that we can see the Tejo River from this area, helped Oeiras to be occupied by many civilizations for millions of years. It is believed that since prehistoric times, more than four thousand years ago, there are records of people living in the area, reaching as far back as the 3rd century BC with the famous Romanization that helped boost the growth of Oeiras thanks to Roman technologies that are still preserved today.🧭🚩
La abundancia de recursos sumado que conseguimos ver el rio Tejo desde esta zona ayudo que por millones de anos Oeiras fuera ocupada por muchisimas civilizaciones, se cree que ya desde la edad prehistorica hace mas de cuatro mil anos ya hay registro de personas habitando la zona, hasta llegando al siglo III antes de Cristo con la famosa romanizacion que ayudo a impulsar el crecimiento de Oeiras gracias a las tecnologias de los Romanos que hoy en dia aun se preservan.😍📸

Unfortunately we cannot go inside the palace. It is an area that is currently being renovated. I believe they are doing some restoration work. However, we can walk around the gardens for free and it is worth it because they are huge and there are many interesting details such as a fountain, sculptures, bridges. There is a restaurant area and a shop where you can buy a souvenir.🧭⛲
Desafortunadamente no podemos acceder adentro del palacio es un area que actualmente esta en remodelacion creo que estan haciendo algunas restauraciones, pero podemos pasear de forma gratuita por todos sus jardines y vale la pena porque son inmensos, y hay bastantes detalles interesantes como una fuente, esculturas, puentes. Hay un area de restaurante y una tienda donde puedes comprar un souvenir. 🌎🚩
There is little luxurious vegetation that has survived from that height to the present day, some large trees such as eucalyptus did survive and are some of the oldest in the palace, tiles decorate the walls of the garden with allusions that reflect typical dances of the time.🏰🌎
Es poca la vegetacion lujosa que sobrevivio desde esa altura hasta nuestros dias, algunos arboles de gran porte como de eucalipto si sobrevivieron y son uno de los mas antiguos del palacio, los azulejos decoran las paredes del jardin con alusiones que reflejan tipicos bailes de la epoca.⛲🌳
Just like a palace of the Renaissance era, they all had gardens in the form of perfect grids, that is, divided into sections, from ornamental flowers to shrubs, and this is what we see in the Pombal Palace. In the 1980s, the garden was restored. There is a small garden called the water garden, which has a set of fountains that decorate the landscape.⛲🏯
Tal como un palacio de la epoca renacentista todos poseian jardines en forma de cuadriculas perfectas, osea dividida en secciones, desde flores ornamentales hasta arbusto y es lo que vemos en el palacio de Pombal, en la decada de los 80 fue que se realizo la restauracion del jardin, hay un pequeno jardin llamado jardin del agua, el cual tiene un conjunto de fuentes que decoran el paisaje.🏰
Here we see a small fountain built with stones. I noticed that it has a marble inscription that says: "This plaque was placed here with the permission of the Senate in 1736." Incredible, isn't it? Something so old that is preserved in this way.📸🧭
Aqui vemos una pequena fuente construida con piedras, me llamo la atencion que tiene una inscripcion en marmol que dice lo siguiente: "Esta placa fue colocada aca con el permiso del senado 1736" increible no? algo tan antiguo que este preservado de esta forma.🏰👨🏻🏫
Visiting the Pombal Palace is a clear example to admire and contemplate a perfect Baroque and Rococo style architecture. The palace was built thanks to the integration of several plots of land that border the riverbank of Laje, an area with fertile land that allowed the reincorporation of vegetation brought from other parts of the world. It was important that the gardens were spacious as they were intended for a play and entertainment area.🏰🧭
Visitar el palacio de Pombal es el claro ejemplo para admirar y contemplar una perfecta arquitectura de estilo Barroco y rococó, el palacio fue construido gracias a la integracion de varios terrenos que bordean la ribera de laje, una zona con tierras fertiles que permitia la reincorporacion de vegetacion traida de otras partes del mundo, era importante que los jardines sean amplios ya que eran destinado a una zona de juego y entretenimiento.📸⛲

There is an interesting story about this fountain. It was intended that the palace received a visit from Queen Maria I. In order to receive her with the best honors, the fountain was created with a small tunnel so that from the statue you can see the entire palace, a five-star view! In reality, the people in the fountain are not gods but poets, therefore the fountain is called: "the fountain of poets."🧭📸
Hay una historia interesante sobre esta fuente y se trato que en el palacio se recibio la visita de la Reina Maria I, para recibirla con los mejores honores se creo la fuente con un pequeno tunel que desde la estatua se puede observar todo el palacio una vista de cinco estrellas! en realidad no son dioses los personas que estan en la fuente si no poetas, por tanto la fuente es llamada: "la fuente de los poetas".🚩⛲
To complete this beautiful story about the Pombal Palace in the 20th century it was sold to the Gulbenkian Foundation and from there a series of restorations were made and it is used as a place of events, there is also a section of the Department of Agronomy of the University of Lisbon.🧭😍
Para culminar esta hermosa historia sobre el Palacio de Pombal en el siglo XX fue vendido a la fundacion Gulbenkian y desde alli se hicieron una serie de restauraciones y se emplea como lugar de eventos, tambien hay una seccion del departamento de agronomia de la universidad de Lisboa.👨🏻🏫🏛️

Has conpilado muchísima información sobre este palacio, es sorprendente como esas mansiones eran tan común antes y aún así quedaron durante tiempo en el abandono y destrucción. A pesar de remodelaciones y cuidado, siento que en Portugal aún no se destina tanto a conservarlas de forma más óptima, quizá sea por la ubicación geográfica, pero un lugar así en otra ciudad seguramente sería sede de algún museo importante.
Espero que tras la restauración a que le están haciendo ahora, puedan sacarle más provecho, no me refiero a explotación turística, más bien a cuidado del patrimonio.
