I stayed in a Medieval Hotel๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšฉ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ (En-Es)

I am passionate about everything related to medieval culture, I am fascinated by visiting castles throughout Europe, attending events among other activities! Someone told me that there was a city called Brota that is 150km from Lisbon where I could book a hotel room or medieval "inn" for 85 euros a night and stay... I thought... I can seriously stay in a medieval house?, I ended up investigating and indeed there is a small village called Brotas in Evora which we could reach by car from Lisbon in 2 hours and then we will look for a place called: "Houses of Romaria" and at that moment.... Our adventure begins .๐Ÿšฉ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป

Empieza nuestra aventura.๐ŸŒ„๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿฐ

How to locate the inn?๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿฐ / Como localizar la posada?๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

First of all, like any inn, you must reserve first and I suggest that it be through booking. I leave the link here at the end of the paragraph. Getting to Brotas is easy, just take the national highway. I suggest that you use your own or rented vehicle to get there without Car is almost impossible, there is no train and there is no public transportation, let's say a place in the middle of nowhere waiting for us to give us a super experience of peace and tranquility. "Brotas" is located in Evora, that is, in the Alentejo of Portugal, that is, in the south of the country in a fairly arid and hot area, the best time of the year is spring, pay attention. This week there are 42 degrees temperature, analyze if you want to take the risk of visiting in summer.๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ๐ŸŒฒ
๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป

A village with a lot of history๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿฐ / Una aldea con mucha historia๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

What we read about the village is that it dates back to the 15th century in the era of discovery. Around the village we can visit several dolmens, this indicates that the lands in the area had already been inhabited in 3000 BC, it is quite small. and we can explore it all in just 30 minutes walking, the inn includes food (breakfast) but not lunch and dinner, in the village there is only one restaurant and its prices are somewhat high for two people, they should be around 50 euros or 60 maybe. On the outskirts of other villages a little less than 20km away you can look for other alternatives. Like for example the village of "Mora".๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Review of my house๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿฐ / Resena de mi casa๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

The houses of Romaria is the name of a group of houses which belong to "Brotas", currently there are some families that are descendants of the first inhabitants, that is, there are people here whose property title was granted in the 17th and 18th centuries, however, they are already They were living in the XV incredible, right? Currently only 6 families live in the village, many had to emigrate in search of better opportunities because they only lived here from agriculture. That's the view from my bedroom window, what do you think?

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŒฒ

I love making reviews and comments about hotels where I stay, I am sure that they will be useful for people who want to visit our country, so I can help them find the best options. When I arrived at the reception, we were greeted by the owner of the inns, who was a very friendly and talkative woman. She gave us a short tour of the place and showed us the places of interest. From the beginning, she gave me to understand that she knew a lot about the place. history of the place, when telling us what our house was, the first impression I got was the door was large and made of heavy wood, do you know what the lady told me? Which is the original, I mean a real medieval door wow!! The space is large, they are houses, not a typical hotel room, they have a kitchen, refrigerator, microwave; They have ones for 4 people.๐Ÿšฉ๐ŸŒ
๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป

Original medieval doors๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿฐ / Puertas medievales originales๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

As you walk through the streets of the village of Brotas you see some things that catch your attention like these beautiful doors that were restored and are from that time, the original keys are on display in the restaurant.๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿฐ

Roman catholic church๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŒ

Before the construction of this church that you see here there was a chapel whose construction is unknown but which was before 1424 and of which there is a legend that I will tell you in the next paragraph, for now I will tell you that this is the main attraction of The village and one of the most visited sites in Alentejo, is a beautiful imposing church full of tiles, I have never seen a church with so many beautiful tiles in all of Portugal and that is why it is classified as (national heritage)๐Ÿงญ๐ŸŒ

To enter the church you must make an appointment with the person in charge, I was lucky that since I stayed on Saturday for Sunday there was mass on Sunday, so I think it is interesting to spend a weekend and see if you are lucky to be able to enter, it is worth it Look at how many tiles there are on all the walls except the ceiling. Starting in the 18th century, it began to undergo renovations and a mixture of different architectural styles was created: (Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical). According to the owner of the inns, she told me that the priest in charge of Portugal invested thousands of euros this year to improve and restore the chapel, that's how important it is for the country.๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป๐ŸŒ

The famous legend of the chapel๐Ÿงญ๐Ÿฐ / La famosa leyenda de la capilla๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

The church is next to my inn, so I can see it from the front window. The owner of the inn told me the history of the chapel. It is said that in the 14th century a shepherd was leading some cows and sheep when suddenly one of his cow fell into a hole and broke his leg, in his desperation he began to pray and went to look for help, when he returned the cow's leg had been cured by a miracle and the people who accompanied him witnessed such a thing! In those days a chapel was built to give thanks to the Virgin Mary for that miracle.๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป
๐Ÿซ๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ

Font 1699โ›ฒ๐Ÿฐ / Fuente 1699๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

Another place to visit is the fountain that is at the entrance of the inns, as you can see it was built in 1699, so we are talking about what? three hundred and a few years? amazing, right? The owner of the inns told me that their function was to wash clothes or they were used for domestic use in homes.๐Ÿšฉ๐ŸŒŽ

๐Ÿซโ›ฒ

The swing๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฐ / El columpio๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

This is the third place that we visited within Brota, it is the main children's park and inside is this beautiful swing which allows us to observe the entire village from its highest point, I recommend being here at sunset, I think it is the best The only modern thing in the place, the rest of the things are old.
๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

National Heritageโ›ฒ๐Ÿฐ / Patrimonio nacional๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

For me, of the whole experience, my favorite part is this, when you enter the inn, that is, in the room where you sleep, you see these things, what they did was modernize the house, paint it, but they left the original structure uncovered, that is, these arches, and bricks that date back to from the 16th century, and since it was classified as heritage of the municipal chamber, it is important that it not be altered too much so as not to lose the essence of the village. It is also prohibited to paint the house or make changes without authorization from the municipal chamber.๐Ÿซ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŽ
๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ

What a delicious breakfast๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿณ/ Que rico desayuno๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

Today's menu is made up of a variety of typical breads of the region called Alentejo breads, they also served us some homemade jams, fried eggs and other things, I was fascinated by the varied and delicious food, the old objects that decorate the restaurant also caught my attention. restaurant and that tell the history of the village.๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅž
๐Ÿฅจ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿง€

Five star experience๐Ÿซ/ Experiencia cinco estrellas๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšฉ

See that blue N2 sign? That is a famous route in Portugal that is the national highway that literally runs through the country from end to end and they place a sign in many villages to promote tourism and encourage people to stay in inns or hotels along the route.๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ
