I had to organize my files and take my castle record more seriously. Is there anyone here on Hive who has documented more castles than me? If so, I'd appreciate it if they commented on this post so I can keep track of what I need for my record! That's right... I realized things were getting serious when I posted in the "Portugal Trails" Reddit community and over 36,000 people saw it, many shared it, and I think there are over 100 comments, which confirmed that no one had ever reached such a large number. I'm on my way to being the first to visit all the castles in Portugal and document it, and today we're sharing one from the wonderful Drone community. I had the bad luck that the castle was under construction and I couldn't access it, but no problem because I always have my drone with me and this area has an airspace opening up to 75 meters; therefore we took some shots and thus completed the visit. I suggest you always request permission from the ANAC every time you do a drone flight.🏰🚩

Tuve la mala suerte de que estaba el castillo en obras y no pude acceder, pero no hay problema porque siempre llevo mi drone encima conmigo y esta zona tiene abertura de espacio aéreo hasta 75 metros; por ello hicimos unas tomas y así completar la visita, Te sugiero siempre solicitar permiso a la ANAC cada vez que hagas un levantamiento de drone.🚙🧭

I'm leaving you the coordinates for the castle, as I do for each one. This one here is easily accessible by car and the walk isn't too strenuous, making it ideal for the whole family. If you plan well, you can also visit Abrantes, the village we featured last time.🚙🚩

There isn't a huge amount to do in the village itself, but it's well-rounded; you can even find affordable local accommodation—it shouldn't cost more than 50 euros per day. Among the highlights are visiting the castle, hiking the Alamal footpaths (Passadiços do Alamal), and, of course, swimming in the river during the summer. The village is secluded, peaceful, and rarely visited by tourists; I recommend visiting in the autumn or spring.🚩🌄
No hay mucho que hacer en la villa, pero es completa; hasta consigues alojamiento local económico; no debe superar los 50 euros por día, y entre las actividades más importantes está la visita al Castillo, el sendero: (Passadiços do Alamal) y, por supuesto, bañarte en el río en verano. La villa es aislada, tranquila y muy poco visitada por turistas; te recomiendo pasar por acá en otoño o primavera🏰🌍

This castle is one of the most interesting of my 47 visits; it's considered the "most complete" example of medieval architecture, due to its importance in the Alentejo region for protecting the defensive line of the Tagus River, which had been attacked several times by the Moors in the 11th century. Its positioning is also curious; it's as if it were on an island surrounded by forests. I've never seen anything like it, and the closest comparison is Almourol.🏰🌄
Este castillo es uno de los más interesantes de mis 47 visitas; está catalogado como el "más completo" en arquitectura medieval, y esto debido a su relevancia en la zona alentejana para proteger la línea defensiva del "Rio Tejo" que en el siglo XI había sido atacada en varias ocasiones por los Moros. Es curioso también cómo está posicionado; es como si estuviese en una isla rodeada de bosques. Nunca vi nada igual, y el que más se le asemeja es el Almourol🚩🚙

It's incredible how this architectural marvel was built in just 2 years; of course, what we see now is the result of a series of reconstructions that throughout history were altered by various kings of Portugal to make it increasingly impenetrable in different wars.🌍📍

Increíble cómo esta maravilla arquitectónica fue construida en tan solo 2 años; claro, lo que vemos ahora es el resultado de un conjunto de reconstrucciones que a lo largo de la historia varios reyes de Portugal fueron alterando para hacerlo cada vez más impenetrable en las diferentes guerras.🚙🏕️

Within the castle walls, countless events unfolded that would change the course of Portuguese history, from the time of the Reconquista to the fortification of its walls in the 14th century. The last known activity was in the 16th century during a time of crisis; there are also historical records that Princess Juana inhabited the castle.🚩🏰

This is the Belver tributary, and its mouth flows into the Tejo River. The water here is fresh; normally the Tejo is saltwater, but I'm not 100% sure about this. As you can see, I wanted to visit this spot to show you the trail. If you continue this way, you'll come to some lovely wooden bridges along the river.🚩🚙

Este es el río secundario de Belver y la desembocadura va hacia el río "Tejo" este de aquí es agua dulce; normalmente el Tejo es agua salada, pero aquí no estoy 100% seguro. Como puedes ver, lo quise visitar para mostrarte el sendero; si continúas por acá, vas a unos puentes de madera bonitos a lo largo del río.🌍🚩

In Cuba we have few castles, and I haven't been able to visit them all yet. I've only been able to visit those in the western and central regions. I still need to visit those in the east, but it's something I have to do because I love the magic they exude.

En tu caso son fortalezas no castillo, la fortaleza era construida para fines belicos solo defender, el castillo era un sitio donde vivia un feudal o realeza y no era posible porque entre los 1100 a 1200 habian indigenas esto es mas de Europa por la monarquia, sin embargo veras por ahi fortalezas llamadas castillos pero en mi opinion no entra en la definicion. Saludos
