Hmmm, you're not completely wrong, but that's a harmful free speech... If D.Buzz. is totally okay with spam/plagiarism then I'm totally okay with Hive Watchers fighting our community.

Though I believe there is a middle ground... We just don't know where it is yet.

And I am in favor of individuals choosing for themselves

Me too, but people shouldn't be left alone after choosing harmful things... There's a reason laws against killing and drugs exist. Some bad things are harmful even for people who are doing them.

Now, I don't say this kind of Free Speech promoting is clearly wrong. I'm just saying that spam & plagiarism shouldn't be upvoted, and as much as we can we should help limit them.

There is a value in short-form content! I believe so!

I think the problem with Curation, and while I think we're doing a good job for now. I think DBuzz should be stricter with which buzzes they upvote. Like, allow short 3-80 characters posts but upvote them less, don't upvote one-image-no-text buzzes, (believe me, a short description can go a long way in making the post better.)

I'm okay with DBuzz allowing blacklisted spammers/plagiarizers posts to be viewed! I just don't want to let these copy/pasts farm HIVE. Too much of them, (an amount I don't currently see,) will harm HIVE as whole including DBuzz itself...

I'm not siding with Hivewatchers here, (a Downvote-war will just be lose-lose situation for both sides.) I'm talking about the value DBuzz could bring if Curation was a bit better.

What do you think? @chrisrice @savvyplayer @iamraincrystal @ond

By the way, I'm saying spam in this comment, but not everything that people think is spam is one: [-] I'm talking about posting the same things over-and-over, [-] posting many effortless buzzes just to farm HIVE, and [-] Meaningless comments like "Thanks" (and my favorite: "Congrats") without reasoning...

... These types of posts shouldn't be removed or blocked, that's free speech, but they shouldn't be upvoted either because the reward pool is limited and honest posts shouldn't compete with spam! As curator, what do you think? @iamraincrystal

These type of things should be blocked by YOU since you don't want to see them.

You have no authority to determine what other people see on D.Buzz and no one should have that authority minus extreme edge cases

  • I agree with no curating "plagerism" and we don't ,minus mistakes

I really think you misunderstood @ahmadmanga's comment. There is a big difference between allowing (showing) spam and supporting (upvoting) spam. 🤨 @ahmadmangazap never said "block spam". 😑

Ahh, I think I did misunderstand or misread, unless you edited your post @ahmadmangazap.

  • I agree, unoriginal content such as sharing other people's photographs or art should NOT be curated.

But like you said @ahmadmangazap, I don't want to go on a censorship rampage since thats the Web 2.0 we are creating an escape for, and when the censorship starts, it often becomes a slippery slope.

  • That's why we only censor the undisputable worse forms of content, and that doesn't include text.. no need to truncate text, just remove links/images/videos of:
  1. Child Porn
  2. Phishing
  3. Blatant Scams

We are on the same page then... Some of these are getting curated right now, I think that's the problem. That's why I said D.Buzz should be stricter in their Curation.

There will be filters by users, but will there be filters by tags on DBuzz?

Ah okay, tag me if you notice some of them getting curated by @dbuzz

  • @iamraincrystal is unbiased & impartial, at least more so than me, but there is always room for improvement

Content that is solely someone else's, with nothing original added, should not be curated by @dbuzz

For the record, @ahmadmangazap only edited his comment to remove the redundant bullets on his enumerated list. 🕵️‍♂️🤨

I'm glad we have @savvyplayer then, he just cleared what would have been a major misunderstanding between us @ahmadmanga

P.S. I have been working a bit extra these last few days, and I think the extra workload decreased my reading comprehension lol

Thanks for the 1 HBD! Maybe you can get more than that by winning at least 3 days in my week-long Math mini-contest for D.Buzz for this March 2021! 😅

As far as I know though, "spam" is a subjective term @savvyplayer @ahmadmangazap.

  • Thank you for giving us honest feedback 😀

Yeah it is, that's why I listed the spam that objectively shouldn't be curated for the sake of DBuzz/HIVE as whole. I didn't say block them, I'm just saying the finite rewards should be given to buzzes that have more effort in them. (Or at least, seem to have more effort.)

Yeah, I agree with that 100%

  • Other people should have the freedom to vote on those Buzz's, if they choose

But @dbuzz should not @iamraincrystal, but this mainly deals with edge cases, that are clearly extreme cases of "plagerism"

HW''s has called silly things plagiarism

Blockchain is about Freedom, Decentrazation and Free Speech.

  • Individual Choice & Responsibility vs. Top Down Centralized Control.

That's the use case Web3 Dapps, othewise stick with Web2.
