Diese Institution (an der heutigen Währinger Straße 25) war von ihm 1784 gegründet worden als "k.k. medizinisch-chirurgische Josephs-Academie" vor allem zur Ausbildung von Ärzten für die Armee.

Interesting that advances in medicine often came because of war. Marie Curie used her x-ray ambulettes on the battlefield in WWI. The U. S. developed the flu vaccine at the beginning of WWII to protect the forces from a devastating flu epidemic (as had happened in WWI). Even surgical techniques were perfected when operating on injured soldiers.

All the harm wars have brought to the world, this is one effect we forget about :)
