The world inventions: The history of the engines!

The development and finding of engines for solving the transportation system instead of using horses, was a great invention for the world! And today, the technology and the new variants of transportation unit is going even further than the history ever tells us!

Think about it: In which areas and in which places could an engine solve a transportation problem, and being a contribution to a firm production of doing the processes even better? This is the engine, and it was a great discovery finding it and doing experiments with getting better engines than the history can produce of stories and of facts.

How did all the things that depend on the engines really started? In 1872, American George Brayton invented the first commercial liquid-fueled internal combustion engine. And this was the start of a new period in thinking how an engine can solve one or more than one problems. In 1876, Nikolaus Otto, working with Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, patented the compressed charge, four-stroke cycle engine. In 1879, Karl Benz patented a reliable two-stroke gas engine. Hence, the development of the first car, the Mercedes version, was dependent on using an engine to get it started and running. The development of the engine was an industrial revolution on its own, and it marked the start of many other engines and many other machines that we find today. How an engine is put together, is really a science today. And the cars get better and better technology, and better and better engines. There is always evolution and development with things when you have the human brain that contributes to doing things as good as we can think of!

But the machines that we see today, was invented even earlier than the engines. Three of the simple machines were studied and described by Greek philosopher Archimedes around the 3rd century BC: the lever, pulley and screw. Archimedes discovered the principle of mechanical advantage in the lever. Therefore, the machines we find today are dated long time back in time. But the engine is quite a new invention, and many use its pleasures and benefits today. You are moving forward and backward when driving, and you can use engines in the production processes to firms to do things more accurately, and to get a higher precision in the work!

Due to all these clever and intelligent brains of making the engine, we have got several versions and developments of them. We have steam engines, aircraft engines, and the manufacturing of engines. And the areas we can use the engines, are just in accordance with what the best brains tell us. You can use the engines for doing different input through different production processes with engines to output.

The industrial revolution started with use of steam power with Thomas Savery in 1698. He constructed and patented in London the first engine, which he called the "Miner's Friend" since he intended it to pump water from mines. Early versions used a soldered copper boiler which burst easily at low steam pressures. Hence, the development of the first engine in the world ever since goes back to 1698.

James Watt was a pioneering figure to develop the engine. And since the first engine came in London in 1698, there has been a lot of research to find new areas and exciting areas for using the engine to the pleasure of mankind!
