RE: Cosmic Addresses: Reflections On Identity, Time & Place

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

So beautifully written! So imaginative and sweeping and vast - and yet so close to home:

the dirt under your fingernails, the mud at the base of the river below, the dirt that covers your great grandparents bones,

and

The worms in the vegetable garden. The precise time the sun sets in the west and melts gold over the grass fields. The memory of my child's foot held in my hand as we banana'd together in sleep. The deep blue sapphire on my engagement ring, coupled by two tiny diamonds,

And wondering if the previous owners of this vintage ring loved their spouse as much as you do.

Distant planets, blackholes, atoms, dust - you remind me of "We are stardust, we are golden,"

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (Woodstock album)

It's nice to know there are others who think about the world the way I do. Among my family (parents and sisters) and again among husband/my own offspring, I was the odd one, the orator of weird ideas.

You're awesome!

P.S.
I love to think that your letter mailed to a sentient being on a distant planet really WILL read this someday.
