Early CGI Animation - Adam Powers - The Juggler (1981)

Good afternoon from Romania, fellow HIVE users worldwide and dear readers from both HIVE and outside of it! For today's first blog post here on my HIVE blog, I decided to write a bit about an early CGI animation that I've relatively recently found on Youtube, more specifically Adam Powers' 'The Juggler' from 1981.

For those of you who don't know or can't recall properly, CGI stands for computer-generated images or imagery. Early on during the 1980s, CGI animations look rather... terrifying, I dare say, or quite surreal anyway.

A shiny example in this regard is the following CGI animation by Adam Powers entitled 'The Juggler' which was released in 1981. The background music (which is entirely instrumental) is quite unsettling and it makes the entire atmosphere of the surreal film look quite daunting to any new viewer. But the instrumental music also has quite nice and rather calm segments, especially in the beginning and the end. It sort of reminds me of the song 'The Juggler' by jazz fusion band Weather Report which was released on the band's iconic 'Heavy Weather' studio album in 1977. I find quite a bunch of similarities in sound and concept to Weather Report here. Who knows, perhaps Adam Powers, the animator/creator was influenced by the band given the fact that he was a fan of their music? Might as well be...

Anyway, without any further needless ado on my behalf, I wholeheartedly recommend watching the following interesting early CGI animation entitled 'The Juggler' by Adam Powers down below.

Apart from its rather spooky parts, I truly hope that you have enjoyed watching the shorts/animation from above. All the best, much health, take care, stay safe, many blessings, and great peace your way!
