Celebrating the 100 years of the BBC (2022.10.26, 10:11 UTC)

GB100BBC is a special radioamateur callsign. It is to celebrate the 100 years of the BBC. I am happy that I was in front of the radio, and the propagation was good, so I was able to make a QSO (two-way radioamateur contact) with it.

My transceiver: Yaesu FT-450D.
Transmitting power: 100 Watts.
My current antenna is a 30 meters long wire antenna, four or five meters above the ground in the garden.

My current QTH (the location of my radioamateur station) is Tiszasüly (KN07EJ), Hungary. GB100BBC is located in London (IO91WM), England. The distance is 1545 km.

I am a licensed radioamateur since 2012.01.16 (my callsign is HA5KZO), so I am transmitting legally.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Nice QSO 👍
And very good modulation.
I'm going to make some QSO on the PMR band today evening as support NovContest, which is running every 4th Wdnesday in Czech Republic.

Thank you. Good luck in the contest. Probably there are high points (maybe mountains) near your current QTH. That is good to have on 446 MHz (and on VHF/UHF in general). My current QTH is on the Northern Great Plain in Hungary. There are no mountains near my current QTH.

The best antenna is the hill ;) We have border mountains around the country, so you can make connection from one end to another ;)

I've just did some support to contestants, due to lack of time to make a trip to the higher QTH. But I did my best PMR DX. 141km from JN79FV to JO70LR.

I participated this contest last July and wrote about it. The post is in the Czech, but you can see te map of QSOs and contest logbook at the bottom.

PS: One point of interest ;) The actual Czech record DX on PMR is to Hungary made due the NovContest 11/2020. The QSO had 520 km, which is with 0.5W and finger sized antenna really great. But if there is good condition... The sound in the video is in Czech of course, but there are titles with QSO km and Hungary is from time 15:00

Hello my friend,

Hope you missed me, anyway, had been through a real tough times of life. Well, back here again to see how my friends are doing?

I read BBC news regularly, so it is a very interesting post for me. Your 2-way com went a lot well and it was quite clear.

Have a nice day and see you soon.

This is sad to read. I read in this comment under a LeoThread that it is health related (maybe an accident or an illness/disease?). Hopefully it is not very serious. Good to hear that you are now in the recovery phase. Get well as soon as possible. I indeed have not seen you on Hive since almost two weeks. Good to see you again.

I am good. Thank you for asking. Hopefully soon you too will be good.

The propagation was good. Later I made another similarly clear two-way contact with R4GM Andy from Russia on 24.950 MHz. You can listen to the recording in this YouTube video.

Have a nice day and see you soon.

Thank you.
