.. E voi da che parte state? Qual è la vostra prospettiva?

Un saluto a tutti

Hello everybody,

Here we are, the price of steem continues to fall and we are now very close to the psychological threshold of $ 0.20.

Attention, I speak of psychological threshold because I don't know if there are technical reasons to support what I am saying, but I am convinced that a possible descent below this level will generate a bit of panic, considering that we come from an interminable descent of quotations: the classic panic sell.

But in the end we only speak of a number, which is extrapolated from the context has little value, or at least it has for those who intend to monetize immediately while it has the opposite meaning for those who are here to build something and accumulate tokens.

In fact, the lower the quotation of steems against the dollar, the more steem power we receive for our posts (and even comments) that have received one or more upvotes.
For this reason I consider it the ideal condition for those who intend to build a position in this blockchain; prices may continue to fall but it does not matter, we are in that area where it is cheaper to buy than to sell and therefore even a minimal investment could guarantee a number of Steem Power needed to be considered something more than a minnow in this blockchain .

I might ask myself if the massive sale of steem does not bother me a little, but I believe that it is all a psychological question and we know that the human mind has infinite ways of perceiving things according to the individual who observes a particular event .

Psychology .. many do not know it but the investment sector is made up of different components but one of the most important is the investor's psychology.
If you try to take a look at the bookstore by looking in the finance and retail trading department, whether online or a physical store, you will find many more texts on the trader's psychology than on fundamental trading techniques (charts, candlesticks, indicators and so on).

The truth is that reading the market is extremely complicated, not for nothing as you get closer to trading you will read everywhere that 90% of traders lose money and on the contrary the remaining 10% can make profits. This of course talking about trader retails.

It is true, an investor is not really a trader, or rather he is but he has a much longer time horizon. Often the figure of the trader is associated with a type of operation strictly focused on intraday or multiday but almost never beyond the week of duration of the operations.
On the other hand, an investor is seen as a figure interested in longer and more considered operations, because he focuses on something that has a perspective in the future (more or less immediate) and a fairly thorough knowledge.

Returning to Steem and the psychology of its users, I would say that for a good percentage of the same this drop is a symptom of a sick blockchain, of problems that have never been resolved that are presenting the bill, of a lack of confidence in the possibility that Steem can reach its own targets.
For the remaining part, the perception of this situation is that it represents an opportunity because the fundamentals that led to believe in Steem have not changed and will certainly not be a number set by the market for the most varied reasons, to bring down these convictions.

My perception is that on Steem there is a halo of negativity due more to the problems of the Social than to real problems in the blockchain and to have started off by strongly focusing on the idea of a Social that supported itself on the blockchain has created that confusion between Steem (blockchain ) and Steemit (social media) of which we still pay the price.

Now in a strongly declining market (I'm talking about cryptocurrency, especially if we look at the Altcoin), steem seems to trudge more than the others; in fact in every descent steem loses more or less the same as the other crypts but it is in the ascent phases that it does not keep pace.
In fact it fails to catch up like the other altcoins and therefore with each drop steem loses positions in the coinmarketcap.

Returning to the psychology of the trader, it is precisely in these situations that we must glimpse the opportunity, provided we consider it as such. Here we have a solid blockchain, with a steadily increasing amount of Dapps, big new features and a system of tokens that rely on the blockchain thanks to Steem Engine. But above all great minds who work to build something because they believe in this project.

The question to ask is: can this be considered an opportunity? Is this worth less than $ 0.2?

All this to say that it is curious to see how by simply changing the perspective with which one sees things, one can pass from an opportunity to a failure; but also of how psychology and emotionality can greatly influence one's investments and guide one's actions, most of the time in the wrong way (precisely being part of that 90% of losing traders).

As far as I am concerned nothing has changed, indeed I welcome the continuation of these quotations because first of all they will give me the opportunity to set aside many more Steem Power than the higher quotations would allow me and then because it gives me the opportunity to put into practice what is the trader's mantra: buy low and sell high!

.. And which side are you on? What is your perspective?

Greetings,
Carlo (@miti)

Il mercato è ancora immaturo, secondo me serve solo molta, molta, molta pazienza.

Ho preso i miei primi eth a 10$ li ho visti salire a 1400$

I don't no if this is a problem with the translation but this is factually not true.

I shall give you an example to illustrate my point:

Let's say we have a post reward of 2 STU and payout set as 50% Steem Power and 50% SBD with Steem Internal Median Price in the first case equal to 0.25$, in the second case equal to 1$ and in the third case equal to 3$.

2 STU - 25% curator = 1.5 (Author Rewards)
50 % SBD = 0.75 SBD
50 % Steem Power = 0.75 / 0.25$ = 3 SP

2 STU - 25% curator = 1.5 (Author Rewards)
50 % SBD = 0.75 SBD
50 % Steem Power = 0.75 / 1$ = 0.75 SP

2 STU - 25% curator = 1.5 (Author Rewards)
50 % SBD = 0.75 SBD
50 % Steem Power = 0.75 / 3$ = 0.25 SP

(Edited)

You are making the mistake in assuming that the SBD payout is the same in all 3 scenarios...it is not. At 0.25 the SBD payout is 0.75 x 0.25 = 0.1875, at 1.00 it is 0.75 x 1 = 0.75 and at 3.00 it is 0.75 x 3 = 2.25.

Also, why are you making a conversion of the author SP payout using the median price? The system doesn't do that. In all 3 cases the SP portion would be 0.75.

I am sorry to tell you but you've got a big confusion about steem payout.
First of all, SBD price is pegged to $1, so is value will fluctuate around that price.

why are you making a conversion of the author SP payout using the median price?

The system do exactly that.

I suggest you to go study how steem payout works.

Your response is kind of condescending, I have been here since July of 2016 (see my main account @onthewayout). I dare you to show me where in the steem documentation does it state that the payouts work in the way that you described.

I'm sure about what i've said, but since you're the one who's saying I'm wrong, you should be the one to prove it.

No, there are plenty of posts that explain how the payouts work. If the system worked the way that you described it the amounts of steem created would increase when the price goes down. That never happens, the inflation rate is predetermined and it is not tied to the price. Go read the white paper at page 26 Current Allocation & Supply.

Also, have you ever noticed that when the price was higher the SBD payed was greater than what it is today? In your model you have a fix SBD payout...think about that.

I sense a great deal of confusion in you. Right because there are plenty of posts that explain how the payouts work, I'm surprised to hear you say that.
First of all:

Also, why are you making a conversion of the author SP payout using the median price? The system doesn't do that. In all 3 cases the SP portion would be 0.75.

Wrong. See what happens today to my post:

a.jpg

b.jpg

c.jpg

Kind of a funny coincidence, the system used the steem median price to calculate how much SP my post has made.

The value of SBD is fixed at $ 1,00. What changes is the vote value.
The higher the values of steem, bigger the amount of the vote.
The higher the values of the vote, bigger the amount of SBD earned (every time pegged to 1$).
The higher the values of steem, lower the amount of steem earned (higher steem median price).

And while it's true that the lower is the value of steem, lower our post will earn, it is also true that the lower is the value of steem, lower authors will contribute with their posts and so the reward pool will be divided among less posts which will earn more.
The amounts of steem created would be always the same but divided among less contributors (that in the end will earn more steem).
This is my last answer and I hope that we have finally sorted this issue out.

The system does not use the median price to calculate the amount of steem earned, It uses it t calculate the amount of sbd when applicable. You are confusing cause with effect. Check one of your posts with similar steem payouts at different median price points.

In your example if we use the median price and multiply it by the steem earned you get the dollar amount that you see. If you divide the dollar amount by the feed price you get the amount in steem. Division and multlipication are inverse operations. It doesn't mean that the system uses the feed price to calculate the the amount of steem in the payout of any post. If it did the inflation rate would skyrocket when the price goes down...it doesn't...that is a fact.

I am done with this discussion.

The lower is the value of steem, lower our post will earn because our vote value are less valuable (but it doesn't mean that we earn less, because less contributor participate at the split of the rewards pool). That keeps inflation in check.

I am done with this discussion, too.
