Previously we looked at the options available for Amiga emulation on the Raspberry Pi.

In this video we look at how to set up your Raspberry Pi 3 or Pi 4 (or now 400 - read to the end!) with the 32gb PiMiga disk image:

There are a few main options for emulating an Amiga on a Raspberry Pi:

  • Ambian
  • Amiberry
  • FS-UAE
  • PiMiga
  • RetroPie

The main advantage of PiMiga is you can get a ready setup disk image containing everything you need to get running playing games.

For many people, the Raspberry Pi is the best Amiga to own in 2020, especially for plugging into a modern TV and for compatibility with game controls. At least until the folks behind TheC64 release an Amiga version!

UPDATE for Raspberry Pi 400

You might have seen on Twitter my new Raspberry Pi 400 Amiga setup!

The process is the same, apart from when you first boot you will find things a little off. That is because the OS needs to be updated to be fully compatible with the Pi 400.

Either in an existing Pi 4, or once set up, you need to go in and perform the usual update commands to bring your Raspberry Pi up to date, then you will be all set!

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
