Yes @gwajnberg, it really is. It starts with a suspicion, with high white blood cell values in hematology. But the confirmation is usually done through x-rays, which can be clearly seen in the bone a bone difference at the site of infection. Also a fever that does not improve.
In more severe cases it can happen that the bone infection communicates with the skin, and a fistula is formed, where there is constant secretion, and this phase is much more complex and advanced.
