Types of Energy

Always, with the spirit of motivation to my students and readers in general, and the objective of creating emotional ties to strengthen the educational process that helps humanity; I am exposing my simple and interesting conclusions related to the types of energy, thus enriching the knowledge of those who actively participate in this social network of steemit.com

"…The term energy has different meanings and definitions, related to the idea of a capacity to act, arise, transform or set in motion. Energy is important for life. In Physics, energy is defined as the ability to perform a job. In technology and economics, "energy" refers to a natural resource (including its associated technology) to be able to extract, transform and give it an industrial or economic use…" Energy

The cell phone, the computer, and even ourselves we need energy to move, but... where do we get it? And truly: what is energy?

“The ability to perform an action or produce a transformation is called energy and manifests itself from one body to another” Energy Definition

If that is so, to do something, anything, you need energy, for example to raise your hand and answer the questions:

Can the energy be seen? Where is…?

Energy is everywhere, but we can only observe the effects it produces, but we cannot see it. And it has the unquestionable characteristic that is never lost, it only transforms into another type of energy.

This capacity that all bodies have, in producing and transforming energy, is realized through two mechanisms: in the form of work or in the form of heat. This energy exchange is called "principle of conservation of energy". Thus, energy can be defined as the ability to make changes or work. Very alert! A different concept is "work".

ENERGY ==> kinetic energy of the wind (moving) ==> WORK

"Work", in this case, is the result of the movement caused by energy. Logical! To produce work you need energy. According to the graph, energy can be defined as the ability of a specific object or system to execute a job. An example: the wind has energy to move a sailboat on the water, that energy will only become work when said sailboat moves.

There are different forms of energy, examples of this are:

  • The photosynthesis of plants is generated by solar energy, which comes from the sun.
  • Wind energy is called wind
  • Chemical energy, which is stored in food and that animals obtain or consume to live
  • Fuels give cars energy, in this case, energy is transformed into heat and movement.
  • The energy existing in ocean tides and river currents.
  • Atomic Energy

As noted, energy exists in nature in many different types, where the human being has learned to transform each other for his own benefit or benefit.

Can each energy be transformed into one thing?

No, each type can be transformed into many other things; the right tool is available. For example, electrical energy can be transformed:

  • In light when we light a lamp,
  • In heat when we light an iron,
  • In sound when we turn on a music device and
  • In many other transformations

Is the energy always there?

Yes, but the important thing is to try to locate where there may be available energy and how to transform it in the best possible way to use it for our benefit.

We can't see it!

Why can we only observe the effects that energy produces?

When there is wind, we cannot see the wind; we only feel it in our skin; so we realize that there is wind. In addition, when everything flies through the air when it blows a lot, the trees move, or when one is disheveled… You can see the results when we observe the movement but not the energy that moves it.

And is each energy "trapped" in the same way?

No, for example:

  • The light, we can get it from the chemical energy in the wood of a hill
  • or of the current passing through an electric bulb,
  • also of the substance that some animals have, such as fireflies

And where do these animals and the human being get that energy?

Of his food. Your metabolism transforms the chemical energy of your food into many other energies, including light energy (fireflies). In addition, both the match (match) burning and the electricity that passes through the bulb, both originate light energy but also produce heat. The human body produces heat when it moves, that is also energy that comes from the food we consume. Practically in the same way as the chemical energy of the fuel in cars, which generates movement but also produces heat.

You should always remember and not confuse the terms: types of energy with respect to sources of energy. The types are, for example: atomic or nuclear energy, light, electrical, caloric, kinetic, wind, hydraulic, magnetic, chemical, among others... And energy sources are the elements used to produce energy, such as coal, oil, etc. The sun and the wind are other sources of energy; being the Sun, the origin of almost all energy sources.
