Esta publicación debió salir hace semanas, pero entre una cosa y otra se me fue pasando el tiempo hasta que hoy finalmente dije: "epa, ¿pa’ cuando?"
Bien, paso a contarles. En la ciudad de Caracas hay un café muy icónico entre los amantes de la tecnología, se llama Bitcoin Café Venezuela. Como ellos mismos lo han definido, es el primer café temático tecnológico del país. El concepto es genial, fue concebido como un punto de encuentro para los amantes del café que a su vez comparten la pasión por la blockchain, las criptomonedas y la tecnología en general.
Quienes me conocen pueden suponer que ese lugar encaja a la perfección con mis gustos y aficiones, así que bien podría convertirse en un sitio favorito para mí. Adicionalmente, su propietaria es una mujer, otro punto a favor, pues es una digna representante del género femenino en la web3. Por supuesto, tuve la oportunidad de conocer Bitcoin Café Venezuela, de hecho, tuve el inmenso honor de participar como panelista en el Side Event de Hive, en el previo a la cripto cumbre internacional que tuvo lugar en la ciudad de Caracas a inicios del mes de noviembre.

Well, let me tell you about it. In the city of Caracas, there is a very iconic cafe among technology lovers, it is called Bitcoin Café Venezuela. As they themselves have defined it, it is the first technology-themed cafe in the country. The concept is great, it was conceived as a meeting point for coffee lovers, who in turn share a passion for blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and technology in general.
People who know me can guess that this place fits perfectly with my interests and hobbies, so it could well become a favorite site for me. Additionally, its owner is a woman, another plus, as she is a worthy representative of the female gender on the web3. Of course, I had the opportunity to visit Bitcoin Café Venezuela, in fact, I had the immense honor of participating as a panelist at the Hive Side Event, prior to the international crypto summit that took place in the city of Caracas in early November.
Para mi fortuna, esa no fue la única oportunidad en la que coincidí con la gente de Bitcoin Café Venezuela, pues muy cerca del stand de Hive estaba su stand en la feria de la comida; sin embargo, no fue sino hasta el último día del evento cuando me acerqué hasta allá a tomarme un cafecito, con la grata sorpresa de que tenían allí una impresora de café latte art, que es un tipo de impresora de inyección a tinta que permite imprimir imágenes sobre la espuma del café con leche, para esto utilizan tintas vegetales comestibles.
Actualmente hay una gran tendencia con este concepto, un concepto original y divertido para ofrecer cafés personalizables con imágenes elegidas por el consumidor. Anteriormente, el arte del latte era posible solo a través del barismo especializado, ahora gracias a la tecnología es un poco más accesible a todo público con las impresoras de café latte art. Si bien nada reemplaza el conocimiento, la mística y la pericia del barista, que va más allá del solo arte y diseño en el café; si creo que este tipo de herramientas le añaden valor a su desempeño.
Fortunately, that was not the only opportunity in which I met the people of Bitcoin Café Venezuela, because very close to the Hive stand was their stand at the food fair; however, it was not until the last day of the event that I went there to buy a coffee, with the pleasant surprise that they had a latte art coffee printer, which is a type of inkjet printer that allows printing images in the foam of coffee with milk, for this they use edible vegetable inks.
Currently, there is a great trend with this concept, an original and fun concept to offer customizable coffee with images chosen by the consumer. Previously, latte art was only possible through specialized baristas, now thanks to technology it is a little more accessible to everyone with latte art coffee printers. While nothing replaces the knowledge, mystique and expertise of the barista, which goes beyond just art and design in coffee; I do believe that these types of tools add value to their work.
No obtuve información técnica detallada del modelo de impresora que estaban utilizando en el stand de Bitcoin Café Venezuela, lo que si logré fue grabar internamente el proceso de impresión del arte, lo que normalmente es invisible para el consumidor, esto fue posible porque la máquina presentó un fallo que obligó al encargado a desmontar la tapa superior, de manera que pude captar el momento en que se estaba imprimiendo el logo de @aliento en el café de @jonsnow1983, el Rey en el Norte .
Previo a ese momento, yo ya había mandado a personalizar mi café con el logo de nuestra comunidad Geek Zone. Me habría encantado hacerlo con el logo que tiene el nombre de la comunidad, pero no lo tuve a mano a tiempo, para cuando José me lo envío ya era tarde, pero igual quedó hermoso y por eso he querido compartirlo con todos nuestros queridos geeks.
I did not obtain detailed technical information about the printer model they were using at the Bitcoin Café Venezuela Stand, but what I did manage to do was to record internally the process of printing the art, which is normally invisible to the consumer, this was possible because the machine had a failure that forced the manager to disassemble the top cover, so that was how I was able to capture the moment when the @aliento logo was being printed on the coffee of @jonsnow1983, the King in the North.
Before that moment, I had already had my coffee personalized with the logo of our Geek Zone community. I would have loved to do it with the logo that has the name of the community, but I didn't have it on time, by the time Jose sent it to me it was too late, but the Geek Zone coffee was still beautiful, that's why I wanted to share it with all our dear geeks.
De mi experiencia, luego de tomarme el cafecito, les puedo decir que estas tintas vegetales comestibles no alteran para nada el sabor del café, aunque si es un poco raro ver tantos colores en la bebida.
Algo que me dejó claro la encargada de la cafetería, es que el proceso de impresión debe hacerse con la espuma de la leche aun caliente, porque al enfriarse, la espuma se disipa y se corre la tinta. Supongo que la premisa es hacerlo con la espuma recién hecha, pues el mismo principio aplica para impresoras que plasman artes en otro tipos de bebidas, incluyendo las cervezas. En cualquier caso, lo fascinante de todo esto es ver como la tecnología continúa ganando espacios, haciendo más amigable, fácil y accesible los procesos.
From my experience, after drinking my coffee, I can tell you that these edible vegetable dyes do not alter the flavor of the coffee at all, although it is a little strange to see so many colors in the beverage.
Something that the cafeteria manager made clear to me is that the printing process should be done with the milk foam still hot because when it cools down, the foam dissipates and the ink smears. I guess the premise is to do it with the foam freshly made, because the same principle applies to printers that print art on other types of beverages, including beers. In any case, the fascinating thing about all this is to see how technology continues to gain ground, making the processes more user-friendly, easier, and more accessible.
