José is a 14-year-old boy, a bit extroverted, intelligent in mathematics and full of curiosity about the architecture of servers for local networks. Last year I worked in a place where I had easy access to the Data Center, a fact that excited José, although he confessed to me that he wanted to study to be a lawyer.

After a few days the subject of NFTs came up, and he, as always, was giving his explanation in a low voice, but with great confidence. I, a little skeptical of this concept at the time, found it difficult to understand how it worked, its application and how these parts were validated as original.

Al cabo de algunos días salió el tema de los NFT, y él como siempre estaba dando su explicación con voz baja, pero con mucha confianza. Yo, un poco escéptico de este concepto para ese entonces, se me hacía complicado entender cuál era su funcionamiento, su aplicación y cómo se validaba estas piezas como originales.

I approached him and asked him some questions, and if I'm honest, it was one of the best explanations I've ever received, and I'll never forget it. Therefore, today I will hereby try to recreate and share his statement with all of you. It may not be an exact transcription of what he told me, but what I can remember and the impact that this had on me:

José: El concepto de Blockchain es importante aquí. Todo el mundo piensa que se utiliza para sólo minar criptomonedas, pero no, Blockchain es una especie de firma digital que dice con certeza y trazabilidad si algo es original. Lo interesante de los NFT es que puedo tener una copia de una obra de Leonardo Da Vinci, pero el que tenga la obra digital en original puede hacer contratos muy interesantes.

José: Yes, it is the most interesting thing, the possibilities of using NFTs are not only for illustrations, they are for anything within the field of commerce, which generate many economic opportunities and transactions that are unthinkable for many people at this time. For example, A MAGAZINE in NFT. Suppose that this magazine you decide to publish monthly, bimonthly or quarterly. You can easily sell the cover of the magazine to someone, you can sell the original illustrations to someone else, the centerpiece to someone else, but the magazine is still “a complete magazine” that can be read by everyone and remains your property.

José: Si, es lo más interesante, las posibilidades de uso de los NFT, no sólo son para ilustraciones, son para cualquier cosa dentro del ramo del comercio, que generan muchas oportunidades económicas y transacciones que son impensables para muchas personas en estos momentos. Por ejemplo, UNA REVISTA en NFT. Suponga que esta revista usted decide publicarla mensual, bimensual o trimestral. José: It would not make sense, these people would always sell something counterfeit, since being signed via the Blockchain it is technically unlikely to hack it, because the certification would change, it would lose its attractiveness, it would no longer be the original. You can already see that NFTs are not just for art, they are a mechanism for doing business of the future, for making legal documents based on Blockchain and their application and management is going to be much more powerful than mining cryptocurrencies.

José: No tendría sentido, estas personas siempre venderían algo falsificado, ya que al estar firmado vía Blockchain es técnicamente improbable hackearlo, porque cambiaría la certificación, perdería su atractivo, ya no sería el original. Ya puede ver que los NFT no son sólo para arte, son un mecanismo para hacer negocios del futuro, para hacer documentos legales basados en Blockchain y su aplicación y manejo va a ser mucho más poderoso que minar criptomonedas.

With that explanation from José, honestly, I wasn't so convinced at the time, but as time went by, I investigated a little and even more with the proposal of the metaverse, I see that this is real and has a lot of fabric to cut in this intangible world. For the lawyers of tomorrow, if this were to happen correctly, it has a lot of application in contractual matters, many challenges that arise from the NFT.

Con esa explicación de José sinceramente no quedé tan convencido al momento, pero al pasar el tiempo, investigué un poco y más aún con la propuesta del metaverso, veo que esto es real y tiene mucha tela que cortar en este mundo intangible. Para los abogados del mañana, si esto se llegara a dar correctamente, tiene mucha aplicación en materia contractual, muchos retos que nacen del NFT.

We have to learn a lot from the new generations, who are seeing the world from a totally different point of view than ours, it is true that there are many dedicated to leisure, but there are children and adolescents who see an application to all this in a natural way, and who with a good guide and orientation in the affective part (subject of another post later) they become those new human beings that we need.

Tenemos que aprender mucho de las nuevas generaciones, que están viendo al mundo desde una óptica totalmente distinta a la nuestra, es cierto que hay muchos dedicados al ocio, pero hay niños y adolescentes que ven una aplicación a todo esto de manera natural, y que con una buena guía y orientación en la parte afectiva (tema de otro post más adelante) se conviertan en esos nuevos seres humanos que necesitamos.
