¡Bienvenidos querida comunidad Geek!
Welcome dear Geek community! Today I want to bring you my comments about the constant use of Photoshop that I have been doing lately, and if you have noticed, most of the covers that I publish both here and in other communities, are edited in Photoshop, a very complete and specialized program in photo editing, with many more additions in which you can include videos, filters and lighting, little by little, in very slow steps, I have been learning about the program, without using any course on You Tube, each thing I have been learning by trial and error, which gives me the certainty to say that who really wants to have the knowledge, you just have to sit down and start to know the tool, although of course, all learning process does not have to be so hard at first, especially if we have so much material in this era, ranging from free courses or certificates. .. But well, let's leave it in that I am stubborn enough not to go to any course and want to learn my way, which has left me very good things to say and other not so positive but important to take into account, with all this said, let's start.

¿8 Bits... What?
The first thing I have to say about Photoshop, is that probably if you are a beginner and you have no idea about photography, this window will be like being kicked in the dignity, What do you mean pixels? What do you mean resolution? What do you mean RGB colors? 8 Bits...? What? What? There are many questions which I am not going to answer at first, because that would take a whole tutorial just explaining pixels, so you only have to focus on Width and Height, depending on the work you want to do, you can place different widths or heights, this is just to display a layer that will act as Background while editing.

Now let's introduce the tools, easy this is not a course, most of them I don't use them or I use them for very specific cases, but it is important that you know how to handle the most basic, which are the following tools:

  • Mover [V]
  • Seleccionar [M]
  • Vara mágica [W]
  • Borrador [E]
  • Texto [T]
  • Formas [U]
  • Move [V]
  • Select [M]
  • Magic wand [W]
  • Eraser [E]
  • Text [T]
  • Shapes [U]

In the upper panel we also have very important sections that go hand in hand with the set of tools of the left panel, well in general, all the panels keep a symmetry between them, so the most appropriate thing is that we get used to be changing between panels often, do not worry, you will get used to it faster or slower depending on your way of adapting, but it is not impossible, continuing with the upper panel, this panel details about certain tools, for example, when creating a text, in this panel we can modify its vertical or horizontal orientation or decide whether to convert it into a shape, the left panel also does a similar function, but I think I would be lying if I didn't say that the most important function is hidden in its history, because as we move forward in our cover design or whatever we are doing, this will save every action we do, until a certain point of no return, between that point and the most recent history there is a suitable margin to return on our steps, but do not trust, if you are going to do something very extensive I recommend you to save your work in parts, the rest of the functions are a little more extensive to explain, but let's summarize that they provide more details about the tools we use in the left panel.

This panel also has something that we will have to organize if you are a worthy human being, or that you will leave completely in disorder if you are an unworthy pagan like me, as you go cutting sections of images, creating texts or forms, in this small panel will be created those images, texts and forms so that you can modify them to your whim, it is quite useful, not to say fundamental, to be able to review and manipulate as you wish any little thing or detail that is not to your liking, of course to reach the full mastery of each panel is a very big task and requires a lot of time, in my opinion, I think it is not required to be an expert to use the most essential of Photoshop, just have some notion of what we do and learn what each thing is for, however, the hunger to know more always haunts us, so I do not blame you if you want to become a master editor, in which case, I would say to use all your weapons to learn, going slowly, but steadily.

Last but not least, it is necessary to say that this publication was not a tutorial or many, is more summary (very summarized) of the things I have been learning with Photoshop using it intensively, sometimes just to make simple covers, and sometimes wanting to explore a little more, I'm still discovering a lot that I did not know, such as the use of filters or perspective changes, the truth, the program has all kinds of things so you do not have fun editing and learning accordingly, the most important thing of all, is that you enjoy the process of learning, if this is not your thing or if you find it more practical to use programs like Canva or others, this is more than fine and it is even reasonable seeing how long it takes in Photoshop to make a cover without much knowledge about it, however, I think that all of us who are dedicated to create content on the web, we should at least try to edit with Photoshop and see how far we can get or how much we can learn, after all, this is a program that has no age and will continue to be used even many years more, for how complete it is.
