A G.I. pipe lining material of silicon carbide used in the conveyance of pulverized coal to fuel the boiler, has a thickness of 2cm and inside diameter of 10cm. What is the volume of the material of a pipe length of 6 meters in liters?

Solution:

Given:

Inside Diameter = 10 cm Length = 6 m

thickness = 2 cm Find Volume = ?

Formula;

V = π/4 (D^2-d^2 )(L)

D = 2t + d

D = 2(2) + 10

D = 14 cm

V = π/4 [ (.14^2) - (.1^2)] (6)

V = π/4 (0.0096)(6)

V = 0.04524 cu. meter

V = 0.04524 cu. meter ( 1000 L / 1 cu. meter)

V = 45.24 L (answer.)
