Citizen Science: Project FeederWatch -- Count #03 Report 2020-2021 Season w/Original Photos

Citizen science is a great way to involve children and adults in discovery and contribute to scientific research and conservation. Project FeederWatch through Cornell University is a great way to get involved in citizen science. You can learn more at the Project FeederWatch website.

I typically watch birds on Saturday and Sunday. This is my report for 28-29 November 2020.

The 2020-2021 season goes through 9 April 2021.

Cooper's Hawk

This hawk was trying to hide in the tree near my feeders.

Hairy Woodpecker

Wood peckers get a peanut from the feeders.

Then the wood peckers put the peanut a knot in the tree. The knot is like a bowl holding the peanut and allows the wood peckers to peck at the peanut.
