EcoTrain QOTW: Can spirituality and Technology live Together?

It's essential that we first understand what spirituality is, its role in this cosmos and also that of technology.

Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is something greater than myself, something more to being human than sensory experience, and that the greater whole of which we are part is divine in nature. Spirituality involves exploring certain universal themes –love, compassion, altruism, life after death, wisdom and truth, with the knowledge that some people such as saints or enlightened individuals have achieved and manifested higher levels of development than the ordinary person.

While technology is;

technology, the application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life or, as it is sometimes phrased, to the change and manipulation of the human environment.

Sometimes I believe the wisdom behind technological innovations are revealed through spiritual encounters. How did a man who's ordinary come to know joining some panels could attract a certain force?. The goal of spirituality is bringing us to that realization that we are greater than who we think we are But to attain such a level of development, we need to understand that there's more to being human than sensory experiences. Technology sources its resources through nature, and a spiritualist believes everything we see was created by God himself. It's possible that spirituality and Technology can live together if a balance is created. When we become too spiritual, we fail to explore all our potentials of living a good life and see every technology as a tool unworthy of praise, and when we incline ourselves too much on scientific discoveries, we lose the essence of life and the universal theme of life after death thus believing God doesn't exist.

Saints believe the spirit of God lives in us. By connecting to this spirit of God, we are able to do all things. Have you ever wondered how some strings of code could execute into something meaningful to a man or how a man created an aeroplane?. These are things that's not revealed to ordinary men, they're secrets made known to men who have attained that level of spirituality, not necessarily divine, but have come to believe there's more to being a human and that we also are spiritual beings. While Jesus was about to leave the Earth, he told his disciples that greater things will men do, much more than he had done. Therefore, spirituality is not against technology, neither is technology contradicting divine purpose, but for them to live Together, there must be a balance.

Technology is practical, spirituality is invisible. Spiritual development affects our minds, thoughts, body, and soul while technology eases our living. Through technology, humans have been able to create speakers that convey messages to a large group of people, musical instruments that aid meditations and for praises, digital bibles to read at every location, and websites to reach out to a larger number of people worldwide. Therefore, technology and spirituality are already coexisting, it depends on individuals to create a balance because, having a greater part of one would deprive us to enjoy the benefits of the other. Life is about balance, wherever a balance is reached, anything can coexist to the benefits of all.
