One of my favorite art styles/movements is surrealism. Various manifestos have been written about surrealism and it's meaning in the world of art and beyond.
Breton defined it as,
"Psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express—verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other manner—the actual functioning of thought. Dictated by thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthetic or moral concern."
"Surrealism is based on the belief in the superior reality of certain forms of previously neglected associations, in the omnipotence of dream, in the disinterested play of thought. It tends to ruin once and for all other psychic mechanisms and to substitute itself for them in solving all the principal problems of life."
Manifesto of Surrealism, André Breton, 1924
It's an important style of work in my life and it continues to be in some of my work.
Both the images created by the AI, using only the word "surrealism", came out very similar and very Dali.
There appears to be the start of facial features in both images.
The AI appears to have learned "surrealism" from surreal landscape images. I would guess many Dali images.
The AI can work more on an image but at this time I just need to study the general use of key tags and modifiers.
