Technology continues to increase its advances with the firm purpose of providing greater development to human quality, every day technological advances are made in all areas where it operates. One of the most recent technological developments that was presented was the creation and implementation of a helicopter capable of flying over the Earth's atmosphere of Mars, this helicopter was developed by NASA.

The ingenuity helicopter that was sent by NASA to Mars to explore the planet and at the same time test and demonstrate that air capability on Mars is possible, successfully performed its second risky flight, this helicopter flew autonomously for approximately 52 seconds and had an elevation of 4.9 meters in the Martian atmosphere, then performed a stationary flight and then tilted at an angle of 5 degrees and made movements to the sides along 2.1 meters.

Although it sounds easy to fly over the atmosphere of Mars is more complex than it seems, because this planet has a third of the gravity of the Earth and its atmosphere represents 1% of the density of the Earth's surface, this situation makes controlled flights much more difficult on Mars, all flight information that this helicopter can collect will be used for its own development and thus continue to explore Mars and other planets in more detail.

According to Elio Morillo, Ingenuity's test and operations engineer, the main objective of this helicopter on Mars is to demonstrate that the technology, systems and algorithms with which Ingenuity was developed work in an atmosphere different from that of Earth. In the same way Elio Morillo states that this historic step is a technological demonstration to prove that aerial capability on Mars is possible, this important and historic flight will allow in the not too distant future to perform much more complex missions and provide greater scientific value.

Now that it is clear that the Ingenuity can take off and land in the Martian atmosphere of Mars, the team of engineers involved in this project is already preparing the next flights that this helicopter will perform, because within its planning they plan to perform four experimental flights, each one more complicated than the previous one, in order to see what its limit is and to be able to overcome it.

I often thought helicopters wouldn't work on Mars because of the thin atmosphere, I wonder how they got it working, the speed and size of the blades compared to the weight of the craft must be incredible.

thanks for the great article, and keep it up.

This is great news for man, I do hope we don't ruin other planets like we did this. Thanks for sharing this information
