Think not about what you have planned for your phone. Think about what your phone has planned for you.

The phone company has it all planned out.

You will end up buying a new phone. Their plan in that your new phone will be obsolete in a half decade at which point you will find yourself buying another new phone. This new new phone will be designed to be obsolete and unreparable within a few years of release.

it is a very clever plan in which the telephone company enrich itself by selling defective products.

I think cheap China-made ones are mostly defective. Easy to break or get damaged. Lol.

It is worse than that. The phone company software seems to be designed to slow down older phones to make people feel the need to upgrade. They also seem to discontinue support of old phones.

The marketing technique is called "planned obsolescence." The technique was designed by light bulb manufacturers who realized that they could make money my planning a short lifecycle for their products.
