RE: Digital Identity: a personal anecdote

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

People that are against being told to verify if they are the same person they claim to be on another social media account while not minding that centralized social media they referenced from ask more private information than they ever get asked on this blockchain.

Out of convenience and just not putting in more data on an exchange which I have no clue how they use my data, I now prefer trading my crypto P2P if I can find it feasible especially when trying to weigh it over the fiat equivalent value. We don't have much options available on my country. I think around 10% loss on value by a conservative guess gets taken out by fees from exchanges when cashing out.

Other than having control of the information you share, I'd like to highlight the control of information you want to see as well (including the dumb parts of people exercising their freedom of speech).

That's definitely something in demand as well.

On Ledger Live, you could swap crypto, but the fees are much higher. The only plus side is that you don't have to sign up for more random exchanges.

But yeah, it's too bad the internet doesn't have that baked in already, so having an id in one place is probably just a dream.
