Nowadays, PC monitors are being subdivided into forms that have functions that are specific to a particular field beyond the big screen and high definition. You can choose the right monitor for your purpose, whether it's for gaming, for photographers, or for video professionals.

The BenQ EX2780Q, a recent opportunity to try, is a monitor that focuses on making your game more enjoyable. The impressive part is that it's not just a game, but also a lot of user-friendly features. Let's take a quick look at what kind of product it is.

02, When I first opened the box and faced the product, the first impression was the cleanliness. I've tried some BenQ products, but I've always had a quiet design. But EX2780Q is different. My monitor is a bit clunky, but it's definitely stylish.

In addition, the volume of the bezel, which is the periphery of the screen, is reduced so that only the screen looks full when viewed from a suitable distance. The screen size is 27 inches and the resolution is 2560 x 1440. At the bottom, a speaker is applied, and a light sensor is built in the center.

The monitor base also fits well with rounded rectangles. It also supports the VESA mount, which measures 100 x 100mm, which can be connected to a separate monitor arm.

03, the speaker consists of 2.1 channel stereo with 2Wx2 + 5W output. Usually, the monitor's built-in speakers are mounted on the back, and the sound quality is not good. But while using the EX2780Q, the internal speaker sound was good enough so that I wouldn't have to think of a separate external speaker. Placing the speakers in front is a bit of a bold choice, and I thought it was a good part. In any case, it eliminated the need for a separate speaker on the desk.

Volume can be adjusted easily with the dial located at the bottom left of the monitor. It's quite convenient. In addition, the EX2780Q comes with a remote control that allows you to control various functions as well as adjust the volume.

There are five built-in sound field effects: Game, Cinema, Conversation / Voice, Live / Pop, Rock / Party, and treVolo provides sound. treVolo is a development team providing BenQ's sound solutions.

04, I told you that the light sensor is located in the center of the speaker. The sensor adjusts brightness and color temperature optimized for the surrounding environment. BenQ called this feature BI + (Brightness Intelligence +).

What happens when you turn on BI +? If the light is bright, the monitor brightness increases. If the light is low, the monitor brightness decreases. The color temperature also makes the screen warm or cool depending on incandescent or fluorescent lighting.

This function is classified as 'Eyecare' menu. Eyecare is a feature that BenQ has applied to its monitors for your eye health. Eye care is also applied to the EX2780Q. There are many other functions besides BI +.

In short, 'low blue light', as its name suggests, is a feature that lowers blue light. The screen looks yellow overall, reducing blue light. This is already a universal feature on smartphones. Low Blue Light offers various modes depending on the usage environment. Choose from multimedia, web surfing, office, reading modes, electronic paper, and more.

There's also a feature for people with color tints. For those with red and green medicines, we offer both red and green filters to make your monitor easier to use. Color intensity can be adjusted in 20 steps.

Other notable features include 'Color Vibrance' and 'Black eQualizer'. Color Vibrance allows you to adjust the saturation. Lowering the color saturation makes it closer to monotone, and increasing the color saturation makes the color richer. Black eQualizer brightens dark spaces that are hard to discern in games.

05, refresh rate of normal gaming monitor is higher than 60Hz refresh rate of normal monitor. The EX2780Q also supports high scan rates. You can use a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Higher refresh rates mean a much smoother screen. 144Hz shows 2.4 times more screen than 60Hz. Faster screen transitions in FPS or TPS games make it much smoother.

In addition, variable refresh rate technology can be added to suppress tearing caused by the screen shifting over a wider range. Yes, it is. The EX2780Q supports variable refresh rate technology (variable refresh rate, VRR, Variable Refresh Rate).

Official support is AMD Radeon FreeSync, which can range from 40Hz to 144Hz on DisplayPort and 40Hz to 144Hz on HDMI.

Fortunately, NVIDIA introduced G-SYNC Compatible earlier this year that GeForce graphics cards can also use variable refresh rate technology on Adaptive Sync monitors. Radeon FreeSync monitors are G-SYNC compatible.

I have an NVIDIA graphics card so I couldn't use Radeon FreeSync, and sadly my GeForce graphics card doesn't support G-SYNC. I've searched the internet and found that G-SYNC compatibility works without problems, and it's available not only on the DisplayPort, but also on the USB-C type. For reference, the EX2780Q supports HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C.

Unfortunately my graphics card doesn't support G-sync compatibility. ㅠㅠ

06, the panel is IPS, supports 10bit (8bit + FRC). The color gamut is 100% for Rec.709 and 95% for DCI-P3. Based on this, the EX2780Q supports HDR. I am VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified. High Dynamic Range (HDR) adds realism by increasing the range of expression, making darker darker and brighter brighter.

I turned on HDR in a game that doesn't support HDR, but the screen is noticeably different. The lights are brighter, and the magic effects are more colorful. After playing the game for a while, I turned off HDR.

The TPS game I'm currently playing supports HDR, and I was surprised to turn it off as a test. I wanted to support HDR as well as video.

07, monitors are quite a long-term use once purchased. And you have to be careful about your choices as you have to spend hours watching. By the way, I met a monitor that was wrapped in a long time. The BenQ EX2780Q is a gaming monitor that is worth watching if you're playing a game.
